    Default Feeler: Sept 29/30?

Because of various family/work commitments, I haven't been able to join any of the runs this summer, and the ones that lined up calendar-wise have looked above my stock-vehicle/novice driver pay grade. But I would like to get to know some folks and get some more experience, so I figured I'd see if anyone else was interested.

Right now both days are free. No specific trail in mind; open to suggestions good for a stock JKU Rubicon with competent but non-expert piloting. Maybe Slaughterhouse or something similar?

That JKU rubicon is very capable...can start right off on some moderate trails if you like/feel comfortable. Using the Trails Offroad rating system, you should be easily good for up to a 5/6 rating without much concern. Some other trails in the area to consider - and that might get some participation - Barbour Fork, Devils Canyon, Yankee Hill, Kingston Peak, Webster Pass, Pickle Gulch. A bit farther away include Mosquito Pass, Metberry Gulch (and possibly Longwater).

Decide what you like and post it up...sometimes there is more interest than you might think after you post it up. I will be keeping my eye open for something on 10/29 - I have some tentative plans, but they are looking a bit uncertain and might fall through. If they do, I will be looking to jump in with another run.

Guessing you have a conflict this sat - but we do have trail clean-up going on both Barbour fork and Devils Canyon. Kingston is a forum favorite - get up there before the snow flies and the trail is closed for the season!

I may be up for a trail run that weekend. Not sure yet, but I'll watch this thread.

I do, otherwise I'd be there. Kid soccer in CO Springs and family in town for the weekend.

OK: Sept 30, Kingston Peak. I'll start a new thread in Planned Trail Runs/Calendar. Let's meet at [edited] McD's in Idaho Springs at 8:45. Starting trail from Alice end.

I might want to try this. I'm only on 32's in my stock Rubicon. Is that going to be high enough for this? I read that there are bypasses around the tougher obstacles. Is that still true?

Kingston peak is easy, with only a couple spots where you'll have to navigate boulders of any size. You'll have no trouble, Jackie. I ran it last year on 30"s in my LJ.

The views from the top are stunning. You should go if you have any interest at all.

Sounds like it could be a great time then. I think I might be able to go. Depends on family schedule at this point, so can't commit yet.
