    Default Wheeler Lake

    Thread starter, more to follow.

Jim, Finocj, and I ran this today. Fun trail, great weather and scenery. Wet tires made for some additional challenges throughout the journey. I especially enjoyed the geology lesson. I will get some pictures up later. This is a trail worth running.

Agreed! Great scenery the entire length of the trail and some reasonably challenging spots even for modified rigs - not really a stocker run, but I did manage on 33s with open/open. The mine at the top is pretty neat. Got lots of pics - will probably post a few directly, here, but thinking I will put a link to the album for Chris and Jim to download whatever they prefer.

thanks guys - see you on sat

Here is google photo album - you should be able to click on the link and see all the photos and there are a couple vids mixed in as well...this album hasn't really been filtered or pre-selected so there are some goofy photos, although I may clean it up a bit. To post on the forum I will need to resize so it may take a bit.

Here are a few scattered pictures from the run. From the lake we could also see hikers on top of the peak across the valley, though they looked tooth picks that far away. There is a lot of water between flows in the trail and puddles which caused some additional tire slippage. The wild flowers were out in full bloom.

The mine was cool as James mentioned, the rail for the ore cart is still in place.

We did it in about 5 hours but spent at least an hour at the top and some time looking around the mill. Up and back only would have been quicker.

You could do it in 4 hrs without much effort if you just drive up and back.

Hey guys, Mark really wants to run Wheeler Lake as well, I wouldn't mind joining if I can swing the day you select, it is one of my favorite trails of the ones I've been on.

If this gets nailed down on the date quickly, I will take a day off and join. Have wanted to run it for some time. Short notice week days just dont work for me though.
