I have a Milwaukee abrasive cut-off saw, has the clamp to hold whatever steady as you cut. I used it to cut gas pipe, way faster than the typical screw type pipe cutter. It also works good to de-burr the ends too.

Yeah, you won't be disappointed with a chop saw. I bought a DeWalt brand new at HD about 10 years ago for $80ish. It has been used and abused now, but worked flawless for all kinds of things. Unsure what they go for now.

no, most if not all chopsaws are straight cut only. thissue with a compound saw is $$$$$. they are pricey.

but, a chopsaw has an adjustable base, so angles are possible. but only in the one plane.

Mine will cut up to 45 deg on a flat plane.

As will mine, but it's not the most reliable form of cutting. It's tough to get consistent cuts. With a compound, the consistency is far better. But your talking $500 plus to get in that market. FWIW, a band saw I'd a far better versatile cutter. BUT, nothing competes with a chop saw. Best to own both! A bandsaw is on my list of next tools.

    these are great http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...FWho7AodViMAiw

faster than abrasive, does not heat up the metal, more accurate, etc... but expensive. The blades are also pricey.

I use a 10 year old miter saw, not sure of the band, it is black and yellow but not a dewalt. But it works great and it cuts angles.
