I saw that earlier this morning. I'm on the lookout to buy a 00-01 Cherokee for a daily driver and when cruising Craiglist everyday I see a stolen Cherokee listing at least once a week. Double whammy this guy got jacked on Christmas!

That is really too bad. What a bad Christmas day.

I religiously use a steering wheel lock on my rigs. Makes for a visible deterrent. I also use a hidden kill switch. It is ridiculous, but you can never be too careful.

I know someone who lives in the Highlands area, maybe a mile West of Paul. Someone tried to steal his F-150, all they accomplished was costing him $200 in steering column repairs.

Someone actually tried to steal my wife's 1997 Dodge Stratus in about 2004 from the lightrail station. It was plain-jane and nothing special at all. It had happened a couple years prior as well at a different station. The 1st time they jacked up the door lock and the ignition switch. The 2nd time they broke out the driver window trying to jimmy the door open. They proceeded to mangle the ignition cylinder again. That car was such a POS, I would have been glad it they had stolen it.

That sucks. The Highlands used to be a great neighborhood but in the last few years it's been overdeveloped and has become the HighCrimeLands. There are mobile billboards along speer and Federal telling people to lock their cars and garages, and if you read posts on nextdoor.com it's all auto thefts, auto break ins, home breakins and a ton of garage break ins targeting expensive bicycles. There's also been a bunch of assaults and shootings, twice in the last month the neighborhood has been on lockdown; they had a patrol car blocking every street and alley between Federal and Irving from 29th to 41st a couple of weeks ago with atleast 10 more circling, I had no idea there were that many cops in Denver. On the plus side it helps me not miss NYC...

    Sorry to hear of it.

For those on the fence regarding installing a kill switch - this is that, sad, nudge.

Been seeing this all year it seems, quite a bit in the north Denver area. Sad to hear of another.

A kill switch is cheap and there are so many ways to do it.

A blinking light can go a long ways.
I installed an alarm on my jeep over the summer.
Its a stand alone system i didnt want it to interfere with my current wiring. It has an LCD screen that can notify me in my house when my alarm goes off.
But the best thing about it is the blinking LED lights that make it obvious the there is a security system.

Who the hell steals a car that has two car seats in it??? Dasterdly deeds!!!

I'm glad Golden is pretty mellow on the theft thing. My girlfriend and I have been looking to buy a house out by Oh My God Road/South Gilpin though.

I hope you get your Jeep back in one piece soon!!!

It's horrible that we have to go to great lengths (and expense) to protect what little we have. The thieves are true low-lives.The penalties need to be steeper...

Agreed. I had an 89 Cherokee a while back that was stolen. They drove it until it ran out of gas, then just left it on the side of the road. Not to mention that they took everything they could from the inside.

I got into the habit of either disconnecting the battery or pulling a wire or two from the distributor cap. A kill switch would've been way better.

A blue or grey Cherokee with a broken window was used in that robbery this morning at the Well's Fargo ATM.

    Noel Brennan/9NEWS)

DENVER - Denver Police are still searching for two suspects who may have been involved in an armed robbery early Monday morning.
According to Denver Police, the robbery - which took place in the ATM area of a Wells Fargo on East Hampden Avenue near South Yosemite Street - involved two men who were possibly armed with an ax and a handgun. They allegedly robbed a man and a woman in that area.
Police say the suspects took off in a blue or gray Jeep Cherokee with a shot-out rear passenger window.
