Default Leaving for Moab Saturday Morning!

Didn't talk about this before because I didn't want to jinx it... Saturday is my birthday and we're headed to Moab for a few days with a stop in Grand Junction on the way back.

We'll miss the anniversary run, but I've been trying to get to Moab since December. As we've discussed here, this is the worst winter in Moab in something like 40 years. The forecast is mid-sixties. Should be perfect.

The whole family is going and the plan is one day in Arches, one day on the trails in Moab, and hit Colorado National Monument in GJ on the way home. It's the week of the Easter Jeep Safari and I'm not registered so we'll have to run our trails in the afternoon (the organized runs are in the morning) or pick something that's not on the EJS trail list.

I also bought myself a "Fat Gecko" camera mount for the trip (it is my birthday, after all),

I was torn, but Moab won out. Other than snow runs and very easy stuff this is the first time I'll have the jeep out on the trail with the new lift and tires. I've been obsessing over a trip to Moab for a few months so I have to get this out of my system. Moab can get hot and I don't like the heat so it was this spring or next fall. I've never been on the slickrock before so that will be an interesting change.

Hoping to do lots of runs with FR4x4 this spring and summer.

Since it's the week of EJS, the Jeep forum sites are all abuzz. I'll be reviewing the early reports on trail conditions before we pick our trail for Tuesday. I'm thinking Fins & Things or Gemni Bridges right now with obligatory stops to look for dinosaur tracks for the kids and a stop at Potato Salad Hill to watch a rollover or two.

Want to take it easy with the family along and make it an enjoyable experience instead of me white-knuckling, my wife crying, and the kids screaming.

    Have a great time Charles!

Usually it is me white knuckling, crying, screaming, whining "Are we there yet?", "I'm tired", "I'm sleepy", "I have to pee".....drives LaDawn nuts....

Have fun! Be safe! Oh....and happy birthday!
