Default Require assistance, stuck in IDSprings

climbing up to idaho springs, brat lost it's mind and is stuck wide open. Throttle cable seems fine, can't find any vacuum leaks, goes right to redline when I start it. I'm headed to tommyknockers, could use a hand getting it normal or towed back down. Or even just a ride til I can get back up here tomorrow.

Is anyone going to be able to help him with this? I could possibly get up there tonight to pick him up, but I dont have a trailer or any knowledge of Subarus. Anyone offering up either of the above?

Just got off the phone with Mitch, he has no tools or flashlight. I'm heading out right now but won't be there til about 10. If anybody's closer, call me (970)-227-2550. From what he said it sounds like the butterfly is stuck open or something like that. He doesn't have any tools. If we can't get it going, I'll give him a ride.

Awesome. Sounds like you will be able to help more than me. I could go up with tools and flashlight, but sounds like you at least have an idea what you are doing.

This group has to be the best group i have ever belonged to. I am glad to know that when one of us breaks down on a Sunday night there is always people willing to go help. Hope Kubo and mitch get this figured out, and home safely.

Much thanx to Subacool, as both I and the Brat are back home now. After looking at everything, we ended up spraying some carb cleaner down into the carb, and the butterfly got back to normal. I think I will need to do a very thorough cleaning of the carb now, and get myself some basic tools to keep in the car. As it turns out, I had cleaned out the car earlier today, and even cleaned the carpets. I've had some form of tools in this thing since I got it, until today.

And of the 30 or so people that I was in the way of at the entrance to the Conoco in Idaho Springs, not one bothered to offer any assistance. It wasn't until I managed to get the car out of the entrance, that someone finally offered a hand, but he wasn't much help(he did try though). While I was blocking the entrance, I had the hood up, flashers on, and was under the hood. One would think someone would have at least offered to help me push the car out of the entrance, but no.

I'm glad I was able to help. There's not much that I did (or that we could have done) but I'm glad I've remembered to grab the carb cleaner. Seemed like that's all it really needed, just some good ol' spray down :fing:

Also, it's a good night for a nice 90 mile drive

I'm bummed that I didn't see this, I would totally have been up for a rescue job tonight. Glad you got home, and with reasonable ease. Feel free to call me anytime you need help dude. At the least I'll be able to get the word out to people about the need. Scoutman and I had issues on Spring Creek last summer, and a call to Randy (Winky) and he had the troops deploying and trying to help get us off the mountain. Took two more days after a late night that day, but with the help of forum members (RidgeRunnerXJ and GM4x4Lover) we got his rig home. That experience made me appreciate the people here more then anything, and I try to do my best to provide the same kind of help for others that we recieved.

This reminds me that we need to update the forum contact list. I'll make a post about it somewhere, probably in the general section. I have a few ideas about how it will be easy to distribute but still secure.

p.s. Was today the Karmic opposite of the "Today was a fantastic day" day?
