I was pretty bugged when I saw that commercial on TV. They decided to go and weeniefy Jeep. But, keep in mind that they don't show any off-road aspects whatsoever in the Jeep commercial.
*sigh
Yeah. I mean I know what they are trying to do with the commercial from a marketing perspective, but it's just kinda funny.
But I don't like the JK's much anyway....shouldn't be called a Wrangler IMO. The Wrangler will always be a 2-door to me.
I wish that the manufacturers wouldn't promote the 'mine make is better than your make' childish tripe, especially as most of them don't have too damn much too brag about right now unless you are doing a mall crawler contest and seeing which one can hold the most purchases and kids in the most comfort category.
With very, very few exceptions, none of the body styles, engines or drive trains are really worth much of a **** off the factory floor, especially in the 4x4 arena, so what else can the commercials/videos be about?
Honestly my 1st gen Xterra was quite capable stock. I'd say it's one of the more capable offroaders in stock form. You aren't going to do Holy Cross with it but it surprised me how much I was able to do.
Yes, there is shame on the Jeep forums I read about this commercial.
However, understand that advertising is all about demographics. They don't need to market to guys. Testosterone already does that for them every time a guy sees a lifted Jeep. It worked on me.
Jeep has obviously determined that there's a big market for women who have money to buy Wranglers with.
Yup - the marketing makes sense. It's just funny.
I understand the marketing aspect, too. And a cute girl in a Jeep is pretty friggin hot, especially if she knows how to drive it. I'm not a huge fan of JKs either. I'll always be a bigger fan of the TJs and CJs. I did consider buying a 4-door, just for the family hauling ease it offers, but I only have the one daughter, so I really wasn't necessary at this time.
That Xterra commercial always reminds me of this from Harold and Kumar....
I can tell you which group of people I would want to go wheeling with given the choice between the groups of people in those commercials, and its not the "extreme" guys. While I agree that Jeep one didn't cater well to its key demographic, I think the Xterra commercial is even sillier. WHOOOO.......you are being so EXTREME in your Xterra.....oh wait.......no you aren't. Just sayin.

p.s. By "you" I don't mean you, but them.
This post was made in jest, only fitting the X commercial gets some back too
That one just made me mad as it didn't portray a very good "stay the trail" type image.
I love Xterras and Jeeps once you build 'em. The Xterras are a little trickier to build. Our aftermarket is limited.
What gets me is how Toyota can make such good vehicles and such stupid commercials.
Toyota had a better commercials back in the day.
Now that IS a good commercial.

I love the old Toyota one.
I think all of American marketing just keeps on getting fruitier and fruitier.
But, overall,
I like the Xterra commercial better than the Jeep one.
Great old commercial Rob
Come to think of it, i dont remember ever seeing a FJC ad, only reason i knew about it when it came out was because my cousin works at a toyota dealership

Guess there's something to be said about bouncing in a Jeep!?
