Thread: Tire chain question

    Default Tire chain question

I have some cable chains that came with a car that was shipped off to Chicago. Chains are illegal there, so I kept the chains. They were for 185/70/14 tires. Can I use them on 185/70/13 size tires? I really know nothing of chains, having never used them and grown up in states that outlaw them.

Check a web site that sells tire chains. You might be able to figure out if they'll fit that way.

If it's really close, you should be able to use tensioners or take a few links out.

Considering they are cable chains i dont think they will fit. They are much more size specific than tradition chain chains.

If you have any interest, I have some chains for the Subarus. I could use some chains for a 14" rim. Would consider a swap...

I'm game, since I don't even have 14" wheels on anything.

    should be compatible..

as u know ,, I used chains on Ironclads for 235/75/15s that are compatible for 30x9.5x15s -- you will just have to tighten up chain tensionor more or use more hooks with rubber bungie..i can show you how to use them if you like...let me know

I think the easiest way to see if they will fit is

    try to put them on.
