Default How To Measure For A New Driveshaft

Due to some driveline vibrations because of the angle of the rear driveshaft in Rob's FJ40, we are going to have to use a double cardan joint in the rear application. Rob asked me how I measured for the correct length and I thought that I would share the information. Rather than re type all the directions, I searched the internet and came up with this pretty comprehensive set of instructions. This is all of the information Englewood Driveshaft or any other company that works with driveshafts would need to make your new driveshaft:

And here is a link to a lot of technical information about driveshafts from Tom wood's Custom Driveshafts, one of the best and most respected off road driveshaft companies in the US:

Englewood driveshaft also wanted a measurement with my axle flexed in both directions, and compressed... since it is an offset diff, and a reverse shackle and all that they wanted to know how much it would flex in which directions to make sure the static length accomodated for the appropriate slip length in the appropriate directions.
