My name is Mark from Arvada. Relatively new to Colorado and new to offroading. My wife and I like to get out and explore/camp in new places. I'm looking forward to getting out and learning as much as I can about how to not be stupid on the trails.

Welcome to the group Mark!
As you're looking to learn, take some time and poke through posts on the forum, you'll likely come away with good tips. A LARGE component of being smart on the trails is to go with someone. Their hands and vehicle become additional eyes (spotting over an obstacle) and a recovery truck - either to pull out of a stuck or to pull to a tow-truck accessible trailhead. It's a handshake - you become their eyes and aid.
Sometimes we do end up going solo so the forum also has the "Rescue List" [Trail Forums > Rescue List] and the "Check-in Thread" [Members Only "The Check-in Thread"] . The rescue list is a list of folks (you could add yourself) who are willing to be called out to help another member in need. The Check-In Thread is for when we head out solo we can post a notification that we're heading out solo - to a specific trail/area and expect to be back at a certain time - and if we don't report that we're back in cell coverage and all-is-well, someone on the forum might (no guarantee, but quite likely) drive out to check on you.
If there's a topic you have questions with - just ask!

Thanks Jim. I've spent some time looking around the forums and have found a lot of useful information. I'm sure I'll be posting questions soon (don't want to rehash topics already covered in depth somewhere else). Looking forward to getting out and meeting members of the group!

Welcome! This is a great group to learn from. I joined 5 years ago and they've taught me everything I know. See you out on the trails
