This past weekend LC4WDC went with the Forest Service to Old Flower’s Road and Moody Hill to check conditions and clear trees so they can be opened.
On Old Flowers 65 trees were cleared on about 8 miles, from east to west, before turning around, the FS is planning on sending the fire crew and-or the trail crew to clear the remaining trees.
On Moody Hill 47 trees were cleared from the west entrance to the top gate. From the gate to the end of the road was not checked.
Even with some trees on the roads the FS is expecting to open both roads as scheduled on the MVUM, June 15th. If you go, plan ahead and be prepared to clear trees or go over them. DO NOT GO AROUND!
On Moody Hill the meadow section is recovering nicely. Please stay on the road and go through the eroded section or use the approved bypass to the north (right of going east to west). If using the bypass get back onto the road as soon as you are past the eroded area.
