    Default Yankee Hill 5-12-24

Made a trip to Yankee Hill yesterday. Lot of melting and run off. Started at Columbine campground entrance. Made it 6 miles total, 3 miles above poser rock. Pretty good amount of snow left by the shooting area but gets a liitle slick about a mile above poser rock. We were told that the big snow drift area at the top was not passable yet. We stopped a little before it due to trees. Got a couple pinstripes on the new Jeep and decided that was enough character for it's maiden voyage.

    Nice! Congrats on the '24!

Yankee is my favorite winter trail. I love the wide open climb in the snow right up at the top before the Yankee Hill climb. It's fun to play and watch others try to make it up.

I agree it has been our go to in the winter for a while. That drift is where we were hoping to get to and if I still had the XJ we would have made it, just not quite ready to scratch up the new baby.
