Interesting video and well done. Ive run both wide and narrow tires never really noticing a difference though they are always on beadlocks. I didn't follow the science and prefer the wider tire.

I love the look of my big wide tires on my truck but honestly I think I prefer narrower. For example, 33" tall by 10.50 instead of the 12s I have. Less unsprung weight too.

Agreed with unsprung weight there. When increasing tire size, always been a tall and narrow tire guy, feel you get same or similar (compared with wider variant) increased tire contact with the length when aired down and keep weight penalty to a minimum. That said, it's also usually less work for modifications to fit a larger tire especially now that I'm back in an IFS with a 5th gen 4runner.

Still Lurking.. Running the 33 X1250s on the Exploder and I don’t see a single problem, but I tried a set of 33 X 10.50s and the thing is almost undriveable on the street. Death Wooble at 50 Mph on the freeway is no joke !!!

Interesting.. I am looking at stepping up to 33's and was worried about 12.5 being too wide since I already rub just a little with my 31x10.5's. I did not think about the lower stability/dealth wobble for street use, thats certainly something to consider. Which gen Explorer do you have?

I don't think the width is the issue here - something else is going on in terms of tire balance or a carcass is bad...

98 Sport with a rear axle over and front torsion bar keys. Not the best setup as soon as I get back up to speed it gettin a Rubicon 44 front I think that will help a lot..
