This is the trip report for the Buena Vista FourMile Trail Run on 11/11 with LouisvilleMike and stevenc23. What a great day for a trail run! Sunny and cool. I (LouisvilleMike) met up with Steve (stevenc23) with his new (to him) Xterra Pro.
We started at US285 and CR 311, just north of Buena Vista, and rode SevenMile Creek trail, connected to Natural Bridge, then Spanish Mills trail into Buena Vista.
What I really noticed about this trail is how smooth it was. Definitely a lot of challenging twists and turns and ups and downs, but not the rocky skull crackers I have ridden in the front range area.
This made it a lot more fun. I was majorly impressed with the grand views of the collegiate peaks and the rock formations we passed so near to!! I definitely plan to bring friends and family back here next fall for a hero ride!
Was great to offroad with Steve and his dog, Frankie! Learned all about his off grid house near Como and his amazing daughters!! After the run we found a yummy deli, had delightful sandwiches and conversation!
We are both newbies and this was definitely a case of the blind leading the blind! Except for a brief loss of truck control on a snowy, shady segment, we managed to survive to write about it!! I was in 4-Low at the time and it seemed like my ABS wasn’t engaged. Managed to slide to a safe stop! I look forward to one more trip this year!!!
