    Default Dash Cameras

Been thinking about getting dash cameras for my vehicles (have several work vehicles) and wondering how y'all liked them and if you had one you would recommend?

I have the Viofo A119 in both of my vehicles and I like it. I think you can have a rear facing one connected to it as well, but I haven’t done that for either. The only thing I noticed (and I think this is the case for all dash cams) is that it powers on and off based on the 12v it gets from the car, so if your 12v is always on, the camera will always be on. I realized this after my new battery died a couple times in my car. My fiancés car turns off the 12v with the car so there are no issues there but I have to unplug mine each time I leave my car for the day. It’s only an issue if the car sits for over a week, and my driving is so sporadic that I never know how long it will sit, but if you drive yours more frequently you should be ok to leave it plugged.

Also, I believe I have the 128g memory card in my fiancés car that needs to be cleared every month or two (simple one button process), but I have a 256g and I’ve never had to clear it. So I think the 256g can store all the video before it starts overwriting and never asks you to reset so I would recommend that.

Thanks for the reply Isak and good to know about the memory card. There are a ton of cameras out there and looking for an option that is simple to use with minimal maintenance as they will be in work trucks. I don't trust the drivers of those vehicles to maintain them.

Thanks for the tip, Isak, I'm putting a 256 in ours. I bought this one on a prime deal for 154, it may come around again https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-Buffere.../dp/B07RXQJ148

So I just double checked and it looks like I have 128g and my fiancé has 64g. That being said, if you are getting front and back cameras I imagine it takes twice as much storage so 256g is probably the way to go.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I missed the prime day deals but still not a bad price and Ill probably go with the 256g storage.
Did anyone add the parking mode kit? if so does it work well?
