Never know where you'll find a willys....my wife is home in western PA visiting family .... going through a photo album and found these old photos. Photos are marked 1962. The family is her paternal grandmother, with her 2 uncles and aunt as children. Not sure why her father isn't in the pic - he was 11 or 12 at the time. In the other photo is a cousin of her father. Her dad says he learned to drive in the willys...had a foot starter. Pointed nose so after 1950ish(?), but split windshield so before 1960ish(?) Her dad thought the blue paint was done by his father and was a cheap home brush job...not factory. Neither Jen nor I have ever known or heard about this willys. The brothers remembered riding the the back and apparently their father liked to drive fast, and the kids would be tossed/rolling around in the back with the seats folding up etc. Jen says even later in life, when she was a kid riding in the back of her grandfather's pick-up bed to get ice cream etc, he liked to 'give 'em a good ride'.

• Sideways on slopes - a sketchy thing
• Driver made a good choice to stop when they did
• Seat belts would have been good for driver and passenger. Rear two pass look to have been belted in (RR pass put a foot out the door - keep all limbs IN the vehicle - no matter what)
• Driver bailed out the driver side and the vehicle, tires down, rolled over (her?) - driver seemed unharmed
• Once rolling backwards they might have made it if they didn't stop once rolling backwards
• Did the windshield make it? (likely not)
• Motor was possibly still running - get in and drive

I'm finding the Eldorado calipers last about three years before they fail (they stop parking-brake-adjusting or they start to leak). Lifetime warranty for the win?

I'm now in the routine of bench testing every "new" caliper before leaving the parts store. Pull the parking brake return spring and cycle the parking brake lever while noticing the service piston's movement. The service piston should keep protruding from the cylinder at each cycle - for a good caliper. If the piston retracts the same amount as it extends - the caliper is faulty (assembled incorrectly - this can be fixed by me - but it is easier to say return it and get me another).
