    Default Clayton or Metalcloak?

Been a while since someone posted here, I'll revive this section!

I've got a '22 JLUR. I'm in the market for a lift finally. I don't know if I should go Metalcloak or Clayton. I've read several things about each, neither company has responded to these particular questions. I'm unsure on whether to run 2.5" or 3.5" and don't know if I'll stop at 35s or go to 37s. For the money you're paying, 37s is a better bang for the buck. 37s are only like $50 more per tire but give significantly more lift when going from the stock 33s. The long term goal would be an off road teardrop but that's 3-4 years down the road after we finish our basement and my wifes vehicle is paid off. I pulled the plastic bumpers off and installed steel and a winch. I may drop a RTT on the top at some point but for sure I'll be putting a carrier on top because we don't have enough space for two of us and the dog to go camping. Just a little short on room.

Anything I should think about? 37s are obviously worse fuel economy (how much I don't know), drive probably worse, and put more wear and tear

Any suggestions or things to think about here from JL owners?

I am not all that familiar with the JLs or with the lift options, but make sure you are considering other factors that might need to be addressed if you go to the 37s - predominantly whether you would need new axle gearing. Even more important as you add weight like skid and bumper protection, RTT, or want to pull a teardrop. Also, driveshaft length and/steering reinforcement an issue when going with the bigger lift and 37s? just things to think about...

    Great things to think about!

The more I research, the more I'm thinking I go with rims that support 35s or 37s and start off with 35s. I just have to figure out if 3.5" will look silly with 35s, my Jeep skipped leg day. hah

I'll simply add... In the 10+ years with my jeep and 35's, I occasionally think - what would 37's be like / should I change - but I don't bother going any farther into the thought as 35's are quite reasonable for Colo's trails.

I have a JLUR Xtreme recon, which came with 35’s and 1.5” lift stock from factory. I slapped 37’s on and it does great!
There are so many different lifts you can buy, MetalCloak and Clayton are both top shelf companies but I don’t have experience with them except I did buy MetalCloak rear bump stops 😁

3.5” would be a serious lift and you’d want 37’s minimum.
To carry all that gear I would recommend the AEV 2.5” lift, designed for heavy vehicles.

Here’s a picture of mine with 35’s and then 37’s, Jeep is on 1.5” lift for reference
the Green Jeep picture is my old JLUR Ecodiesel with the AEV 2.5” lift and 35’s.
