    Default Adopt-a-Trail Clean-Up Run

Thought I would kick it off...First, thanks to Trevor for taking lead on this.

Very nice day for a clean-up run and nice fall colors. Ran Barbour Forks, split at the first "Y". Tom, Jim, and hiimmike went left while cnstaco, DaveO, tcm, and I went to the right. The area was clean overall which made for an easy day. The largest item was on old seat the DaveO dragged to his Gladiator. The trail toward the top washed out quite a bit with all the rain this year so it made for a bit more challenge. A bit busy as there were 11 Jeeps and about a half dozen classic FJ's out there with us, with this no longer a "lollipop", passing can be tricky. Great to see some old faces and meet several newer members as well.

No pics from me. Jim has some though. Beautiful weather most all day. Starting pouring about 45 min after I got home. Area was much cleaner that other cleanup runs I have been on.

One of the oddest things was this note nailed to a tree at the shooting area...

Trevor - we might want to send this to Brandt/Forest Service...

    Weather was great!

I can pass this along. Do you have any position information for where you found this? Maybe try to pick out the site on google maps satellite view?

Thanks everyone for coming out today. It turned out to be great weather...... we only got a little rain while airing up. Devil's Canyon wasn't too bad. A few concentrations of trash in a few of the larger campsites but no large debris. No threatening letters. he climb before that shaded "lunch spot" is really rutted up now. It's very twisty.... good at putting a rig up on two opposing corners.

Did you guys toss that old seat in the dumpster at the ranger station? I think I saw it in there.

The signs on Devil's canyon looked great. I also doubled back and ran Barbour up to the first Y and those signs looked good too. I didn't add any. I think the paper ones wouldn't last long with all the rain in the forecast. I'm gonna see if I can get these ones laminated for next time.

Nice day on Devils Canyon. We split up and covered a lot of ground on foot. Not a lot of garbage for the most part. Britton and I had to cut out at about 1:00 as we were expecting company, but no rain while we were there. This trail has changed a lot since I was last on it. I was told I had a wheel 3 feet of the ground for a while as I made my way up the washed-out area. That was fun! I got a few pics on my crappy phone:

Great day out there, nice to meet everyone and do some good! Devil’s canyon got the best of me this time, but I’m glad Trevor got to use his winch :P I guess AWD and open diffs aren’t gonna cut it when it gets dicey, time for some more upgrades

    Tom, thanks for the ride!

    Barbour Fork

    Weather was PERFECT!

The shooting range on the way in had some trash - perhaps a "medium" on my ratings list. Otherwise, trash was minimal at the campsites.

The trailhead had this dumping of aspen cuttings - with the trunks rolled down the slope behind the pile.

    Aspen color was enjoyable...

As we aired down, some nice old Toyotas pulled in:

Rain north of Longmont - very short lived...

That spot has trapped longer wheel based vehicles for years.

Was great meeting you Isak! I hope you bumper is ok, we were trying to get your rear passenger wheel down and I stood on it for about a second until I heard some noise, so hope I didn't damage it.

No worries Scott, I'm sure its fine. I think the bumper is rated to tow 750 lbs, so I doubt anything broke but I'll give it a look over at some point. Nice meeting you as well!

I finally got around to getting a report and pictures out to Brant and Patrick at the USFS. When I first plotted the coordinates of that weird note I thought I had the datum wrong or some other error as it lands in the middle of the loop... but one of the MapBuilder layers on CalTopo.com shows a spur in that area. Does that jibe to any of you folks who were there?

Yes, there is a spur on the left just before going up the obstacle where someone rolled during the spring run, waypoint 6 on Trails Offroad.
