Family is looking for a first vehicle - manual trans and convertible are two high list items. Jeep is on the list. If you happen to come across something between here and Dallas TX that can do highway driving - I'd be interested in a link.

Will let you know....4.0 HO TJ would be a good starter jeep for budget oriented. The early JKs we're also coming down in price before economic changes. The above 48 doesn't meet highway capable....

hey Jim....not sure if you are still looking and what price range you were thinking...but this could work if they are interested in wheeling. Or you can get rid of the body and shackle lift and run a slightly upsized tire instead of the 33s for a better DD....

a bit pricier but newer...and 4 door...not sure if the removeable hard top is considered convertible?

This is pretty much exactly what I was thinking would be nice...but its a bit pricey IMHO...I'd look for something like this at a slightly better price (and maybe without the fugly wheels), and of course, if its from Wisconsin, check for rust!

Not a convertible...probably not anything you asked about....but they don't get much cleaner than this XJ:

It certainly does hit the practical aspects - I sent it off - we'll see!

    In other news:
I was up in North Park Thurs / Fri - there was a maroon flat fender (no roll cage IIRC). I snapped a pic from afar - I'll post it later tonight and you can see if you recognize it.
