Hi everyone, I am excited to be connected to an active group of wheelers and wrenchers in the Front Range. My wife and I live in Boulder, and we drive a white 2008 Nissan Xterra.
The Xterra is a budget friendly overland-style build. 1.5 inch spacer lift, factory skid plates + aftermarket engine skid, rear differential breather extension, factory e locker, and a Yakima roof top tent. It is our only vehicle for probably another year or more, so I am keeping the build mild and wheel within my/it's limits.
A little back story. We had a bone stock 2005 Xterra up until this past January, when we were in a bad accident due to freezing rain in Missouri. We loved it, Xterras are pretty affordable compared to other similar SUVS, and I thought it was pretty darn capable considering it had no mods or locker. Before totalling it, we had completed several trails in the West Magnolia area and Pennsylvania gulch (photos in next post). So, we replaced it with the 2008, which was a bit of an upgrade since this one has the off road package (e locker, one size bigger tire, beefier rear axle). This one has only been on an easy trip to Switzerland trail and a camping trip, so I owe you wheeling photos.
I am really excited to meet some folks. I think my biggest wheeling aspiration for the summer is some of the passes in the Ouray/Telluride/Lake City area, so please hit me up if anyone plans on going out that way.
