    Default 4-Mile area

Planning on doing a little wheeling in the 4-mile recreation area this Saturday figure on meeting at Johnson's Village just before you get to the turn for Mainstreet Buena Vista at 10 am.
Mark ( Mad Maxx) showed interest as well.
I'll put it on the calendar in case anyone else would like to checkout the area also.

Where at in Johnson Village? If you need a suggestion for a particular spot, I'd suggest Railroad Parking in Buena Vista. It might be slightly less convenient for y'all coming from the east but it's a lot with a restroom right across the street, and there is a way onto the trail closeby.

I'd definitely be interested in meeting up. What time you guys thinking for a meet up time?

Wow. I realize I didn't read your post thoroughly enough and asked for the time when you already posted it. We'll be there!

Johnsons village is a gas station food mart with a rather large parking area. Whether you get your gas there or somewhere else, it has anything you might need that you forgot for the day. Get back on 285 and backtrack for a few minutes and you can access either the south or north side of the 4 mile area.

Google Maps isn't finding anything specific called "Johnsons village" there - that whole area along 285 just east of 24 with a few gas stations and stores and such is called Johnson Village.

If nothing else I'll just look for you around that area and shout on the radio since there's not many places there that match that description.

    38.8117972, -106.1069629.
This is the coordinates of Johnsons village food/gas mart.

I know that the gas is kind of high there so if you gas up else where that's cool. Just has a Hugh parking area and bathrooms ect.

I'd be ok with driving (caravan) if we don't push the speed limit. My xj struggles up those long steep mountain passes

I'm coming from Leadville so unless y'all are passing through here I'll meet y'all in Johnson Village, and it's not too far from there. I think I'll be taking my Suzuki Jimny which is probably slower than your XJ. It's the version built to be compliant with JDM kei regulations so it only has a 3 cylinder 660cc motor with factory turbo, plus the short wheelbase means it's pretty slow on highways.

Nice I love to see unique and rare 4X4's I'm really impressed with what a person can get through with those rigs.

Leadville, we will have to try and run the trails a little closer to you. There are some great ones. Half-moon and Wheeler Lake you can always talk me into!!!!!

I'm hoping Half-moon opens soon - they kept it closed all last year! There's lots of smaller, minor trails around here that make for fun exploring too - lots of great views and old mining structures to be seen everywhere.

Generally Half-moon Creek is a late season trail because the water crossings are to deep until late July/mid August. We ran it about 4 years ago. Pretty special!
