The gas station at Halls Crossing closes at 6pm (but I believe has 24 hour pumps) so topping off the gas and getting any last minute supplies before heading to the trail and finding a camp spot for the night is probably the best plan.

I am thinking we’ll probably want to camp a few miles into the trail, somewhere in the vicinity of the following: 37.37580, -110.53891

Get 7 day nps pass here: https://www.nps.gov/glca/planyourvis...m#onthisPage-0

This area is very remote but I think there are large sections of cell service along the trail. Do a little research and watch some of the videos and you’ll know what to expect. I’m expecting a Moab trail experience but with very little other traffic and very few services (unlike Moab).

This won't affect us immediately, but I noticed on the link above that the Hite fuel station is closed as of 4/1/22. If anyone else happens to be travelling in that area in the near future and is relying on the fuel at the Hite crossing, they should confirm if it has reopened.

Do we have a target time to meet up on the 14th to find camp or on the 15th to start the day?

In the calendar event I put the “meeting spot” as the Halls Crossing gas station on the 14th between 5-6pm to gas up and get any last supplies. From there we could all scoot onto the trail and look for a camp spot! The next morning I think we just leave when we are all up and ready to go! Sunset will be around 8:20pm and sunrise around 6:20am so we should have plenty of time to find camp before dark!

I believe the gas pumps are 24 hour but the store itself closes at 6pm..... so you can sleep in and get there after 6pm and still fuel up but I'm suggesting we get there before 6pm in case of any last minute supplies needed. My MAPS says it's 8 hr 35min right now, round up to 9 hours from Boulder to Halls Crossing. Saturday traffic might slow things down a bit but probably not much leaving the metro area early enough. 8am isn't very early to me and could probably still get you there by 5:30pm. I'll probably leave around 7am but I'm up every day around 6am so it doesn't bother me much leaving a little early in the morning when I know where I'm going

I add at least 10% to travel times on long trips like this in my Jeep. I have to get out and stretch / get a break every few hours when driving on the highway with no cruise control and a manual transmission. It's not 3AM early, but I'll be on the road before 7 am to be sure I make it in time to find everyone. Might just find a place to spend Friday night several hours down the road from my house instead.

It's been one year since our trip to the Maze district. I've got a good start on my prep list for this week. Can't wait to be back on the trail!

Well right now my TJ keeps popping out of 4LO. I took the shift linkage all apart and I'm manipulating the shift plate on the transfer case by hand and it's doing the same thing. Right now I'm so ******* frustrated with this Jeep I don't even want to deal with it and will probably not be coming on the trip.

Where in Denver are you? I am in Sloan's lake. I am very familiar with the np231 (i believe the rock Trac is similar). I'm not going on the trip, but happy to swing by and help you out to get you comfortable to make the trip.

That’s so crazy, I never had any issues with the transfer case or clutch when I had it. So sorry it’s causing you so much trouble

Interesting…. The last part of the video they run a spur off the main trail called Rincon road. This is shown on my Gaia mapping but it says it’s closed. I’ve highlighted it in Orange on this picture. It looks pretty awesome to camp as it goes down to Lake Powell….. It’s 7.5 miles one way so would add 15 miles. Watch the last portion of the video where they run this trail. He says it’s a little more challenging than Hole in the Rock but it looks pretty fun. And the camp spot looks amazing!
