Default Dry St Vrain or Bunce playing in the snow tomorrow? New Years Day

I had to bail on the Gulches because we are getting a lot of snow and it would take me twice as long to get there. So, anyone in the Longmont/Loveland/Boulder/Ned area that wants to go play in the snow let me know 😘

I can go later this morning 11:00-30 after I do my snow chores. If Nedernet doesn't go down you can text me at 303.669.0654

I had NederNet for years when we lived near Ned. They couldnít reach our place here so we have had HughesNet for the past 5 years. Expensive and too slow to work from home but works! Sometimes I have to brush the snow off the satellite dish but thatís ok. I donít have cell service however so letís try to connect on here later this morning! We probably live 5 minutes apart so should be pretty easy to meet up! I will need to snow blow the driveway to get out so I have some snow chores also 🤣

I just finished my snow chores and I have a couple more things to do so I could be ready by 11:30ish. What's the Dry St Vrain Tr., is it the Bright in Pine Valley?

From reviews I have been hearing, I'd recommend that you get yourself on the www.starlink.com waiting list. $100 bucks down payment and ~$500 when you can sign on. The antenna is costly. One client, with a long reach fixed point wireless connection, signed up about six months back (EDIT: - they're still waiting). If I recall, the service is about $100 / month for a 100Mbit down / 100Mbit up connection. The antenna / radio uses about 100 watts of power in standard mode and more when it's in snow melt mode (no more brushing off the dish).

Latency is improved as the satellites are closer to the earth. No fine / precision aiming of the dish so wind storms moving the dish should be a thing of the past.

Another Ned member here, I have a neighbor with Starlink, he likes it when it works, but doesn't rely on it as he works from home and it has frequent outages. I got on the list a week after him but it looks like I am a year out on getting a starlink unit, so don't hold your breath for them anytime soon.

T-Mobile has a plan that works well here for $50/month unlimited, but it also goes offline quite frequently, multiple times a week for short periods that like my neighbor, I also have a backup plan. His is AT&T for backup, mine is Qwest, but for us part of working remotely and living in Ned is having redundant internet connections.
