    Default Canyonlands

Just spent a couple of days in the Needles district, hiked Squaw Canyon, Big Spring Canyon, Elephant Canyon, Chesler Park, Cave Spring and Roadside Ruin. It's an incredible place. We also drove some of Lockhart Basin road, beautiful views all the way.

Two minutes of Big Spring Canyon

    Few more.

    1. Huge delay on I70 west, turns out there was a truck on fire in the eastbound lane. Scary, fortunately no ambulance.

    2. Apparently the week before Thanksgiving is the best time of year to visit Moab / Canyonlands. We were the only car in the parking lot for Newspaper Rock.

The rest are from Cave Spring trail, it's only .6 of a mile long, we tacked it on at the end and were surprised how awesome it is. Mile-for-mile it has the most bang for your buck in the park, IMO. There is an old cowboy camp and the cave is really a long underhang, maybe 200 yards, with pictographs and a rock with wear marks from grinding grains. There are two ladders you climb, the first on ends up on a tiny ledge with an offcamber step off that was pretty scary. It's all slickrock after that with stunning views and mild scrambling. If you're ever in the Needles it's a great short trail.
