    Default Hello From Broomfield.

    Hello everyone,

Moved to CO 3 weeks before the pandemic shenanigans started, I have a FJ and would say I'm a beginner\intermediate-ish level (more of a beginner when looking at the trails you guys have here). Apologies if I don't include my name or other details. Look forward to joining some trail runs and please, if you have trails you recommend let me know.

Welcome neighbor. Where have you wheeled before? We have trails of all difficulties around here.

Hey Trent, thanks for the welcome....
The co I work for is HQed here in Broomfield, so 2020 I decided to move here, didn't know the world will end a few weeks later , but as with most of us I've been working from home since early 2020 (It's loosing it's appeal by now to be honest). Actually a co-worker just picked up a 4runner a week ago and we plan on hitting Yankee Hill trail on Sunday the 14th (Nov). Would you say that's a good beginner trail?

Wow, autocorrect changed "wheeled" to "worked" on me. Sorry about that. Was trying to ask where you've been wheeling!

Yankee Hill isn't hard, but if it's snowy up there you'll find it incredibly challenging and possibly dangerous. I'm not sure what conditions up that way are right now. There are a couple of fun optional difficult obstacles on Yankee Hill, but none you are obligated to attempt. The trail network around there is vast and you can spend days exploring different spurs.

    Hey Trent,
No Problem, I know autocorrect can be tricky at times but for a poor speller like me it's more help most of the time .Thank you for the info on Yankee hill, once he's comfortable with wheeling with a group as his rig is stock I'll tell him to join here and get some group runs together.

    Jason44,
Thank you... that's a nice looking 4runner, is it a V8? Then I'll really hate you lol (just kidding) . The V6 in my FJ is struggling at this elevation (like me) especially after putting 285\75 17 on it... feels like it needs re-gearing, a super charger and NOS now to make up there mountains lol

    Jim,
Thank you for the welcome... I have wheeled before in (well I'll say the name of the state but I'm not from there, just lived there for a while so don't hold it against me, CA)

    Tom,
    Thank you for the welcome.

Welcome. I have a neighbor with a lightly built FJ and he says the trick is to just leave it in 3rd with your foot on the gas when coming up the canyon.

Welcome newbie! I spend half the year in Colorado and the other half in Cali. Even though everything is way more expensive in Cali, it’s pretty sweet! Yesterday was 91 and I went solo desert wheelin this weekend….. sliced a sidewall, good times 😎

Thanks Matt, that's a nice setup.. half the year in CO and the other half in Cali. It's a beautiful state with perfect weather, and in my opinion some of the best off-roading in the country AND you can off road in another country in a few hour (Mexico). It's just socially\politically brutal lol

Was that Anza-Borrego or 29 Palm area? An how did you manage to get a flat on KO2s?!

It was in the Ocotillo Wells svra, right on the border of Anza Borrego state park! Came around a twisty a little too fast and too tight and this sharp rock sticking out caught the sidewall and tore it open. I can’t help but think the 6 ply C rated tires didn’t help and ordered the 35/12.5/17 E 10 ply as replacements for all 4! Hope they show up this week so I can go wheeling again this weekend!😎
