Default Life and stuff happens but now its time to wheel again.

Got my first jeep in 2001 a 95xj 5 speed. I put 50000 miles on it in the first year of owning it exploring our great state. Also that year I got it high centered on a tree root that was snow covered. Luckily a fellow jeeper coming the other way helped get me unstuck and in the process his jeep died and wouldn't start so I towed him out off the trail. It didn't stay stock for long after that. Joined the MHJC club and enjoyed the fun of wheeling over the years. Have stayed active in the wheeling community and was also a member of the colorado trail patrol. Fast forward years and I lost my wheeling partner then took a job that had me working 6 to 7 days a week. So didn't wheel much then in 2016 I destroyed my motor when I accidently shifted from 3rd into 2nd instead of 4th. It high rev'd the motor and jumped the timing. Decided to swap in a motor I went looking for one. In the process I came across a one owner 96XJ 5 speed. Purchased it for the motor but friends and the wheeling community convinced me to keep it stock because it was in such nice shape. So that is how I got my second jeep. I use it as my daily driver. In 2018 I'd had enough of working 6-7 days a week so decided to quit and do something different. On an impulse I purchased a Honda shadow motorcycle and decided to learn to ride. This past month I turned over 11k on the odometer. Most of the miles were put on in 2020 and 2021. Have decided its time to also get back to wheeling.

Found an old picture of the 95XJ before the transformation.

    Welcome to the group!

As you've wheeled and cycled around the state - what part of the state do you enjoy most?

FoCo received some covering on the grass. It was melted off 30 minutes later - though this was a decent knock on the door from Mr. Winter!

The sw part is my favorite for wheeling as for motorcycling I like it all. Anytime I can go either I'm happy.

Thanks all for making me feel so welcome. I was really looking forward to meeting and wheeling with you all but I have some sad news to report my blue jeep is currently at hillside 4x4 as it won't pass emissions. They found an exhaust leak as the header has an area the wasn't welded and needs replaced. They also found the ac clutch is going out as well as the water pump. All that stuff was all new when I had the re built motor installed. It passed two years ago and now it won't and has all these issues, Plus it only has about 4400 miles on the new motor. Very frustrating! Also my other jeep decided it was time to pile on to my troubles. Making a clunking noise when you shift or let on or off the accelerator. What ever the issue it is also putting vibrations thru the drivers seat.

I don't know your vehicle - but if it's like my YJ, I'd check to see what the transmission / transfer case to belly pan mount looks like - is it broken?

Easy test - lever between the forward edge of the belly pan and the trans/xfer case and see if it moves up more than 1/2 inch.

Then again - might not be what I've experienced. Easy test though.

When you're under there - check your drive shaft U-joints and rear axle suspension for slop.

Let us know what you find!
