Unhappy Johnny and S Pierson Parks, Sunday 10/24 Report

Great day. Great people. Not issues with any rigs. Really enjoyed getting out. Forgot to turn on the aprs. No pics or videos. Paul should have some good stuff.

Jim really missed out on this snow run. So much snow the pucker factor coming out of Pierson kept me alert. You would have really enjoyed this snow run Jim. Just saying…

Great trail run, great day, I got no video and my Jeep went from weird to wrong. My camera froze up at the trailhead, IDK what happened. None of the buttons or wifi would respond. Later I took the battery out, put it back and everything is fine. So I didn't get any video, which was a shame, it was a fun day on the trail. I haven't used my Jeep much this year and at the cleanup run I noticed the alignment was bad, adjusted it twice but couldn't quite get it. Trent noticed my passenger front tire was significantly more worn than the others, which must have happened on a trip last week when I was fighting what I thought was the alignment again. It was pretty minor at that point, I have an appointment at Firestone for an alignment this week that I think I'll have to cancel. After Johnny Park I had death wobble above 30mph, I'm pretty sure I have a bad ball joint or more. I have work and meetings today, hopefully will figure it out tonight. I still had a fun day on the trail, thank you for setting it up, Tom!

    Pics from the meetup.

That’s too bad Jim. Since Paul’s photos and vids didn’t turn out you may never know what great snow you missed out on.

Good luck! Sorry to hear you had problems.

I had a great day on the trails. I joined after finishing up some work on the J10 lift and wanted to do a shake down. I saw the club was going to do Johnny Park and S Pierson Park and thought what a great set of shakedown trails, if not a bit boring from what I knew of their ratings. These trails are written up to be a snoozefest but I had to throttle out on at least two obstacles. Don't get me wrong, it was a lot of fun using the 401+ power but I bet there are going to be a lot of newcomers getting in over their heads if they see these written up as boring no-obstacle trails and going out alone on them.

We found a Silverado that I think had about the same lift as what a "Trail Boss" trim would have but didn't see the Trail Boss stickers. He pulled over to let us pass at one point I think on Johnny Park, and he actually came up to my truck to ask how much further and express his frustration at sites informing him it would be a good beginner trail and very easy. There are actually some parts where I'm surprised his rig wasn't damaged especially with the assumption that he was new to offroad driving.

Anyway it was a fun day with great weather (I like a bit of chill in the air) and all familiar faces for me. Jayson's 4Runner did a good job representing Toyota for the run. I like the aggressive stance it has with the lift and the tires look and function well. Mike's Jeep looked cooler than I'd ever seen it with his "core" doors I think they're called, and the last topless outing of the season.

I had a great time with everyone! I've been on a little wheeling hiatus and it was good to be back in the seat. the best pic I got was of Ty heading up the rocky step part on JP.

Jim, this was before all the snow happened...of course...

I'm sure you must have an awesome photo of me somewhere, but that's Ty and his J10 in the photo above!

I forgot to add my photos and videos. They're far from my best but in case they're worth something to someone:

Didn't get any footage of the insane snow dump, had to keep both hands on the wheel.
