Default Montezuma basin and Pearl Pass 9/16/21

I ran these today, perfect weather & great trail. Montezuma basin is a short two mile steep shelf road to the trailhead for two 14’ers. It was easy& after a few pics I headed back down to continue up Pearl Pass. Once I passed the spot I turned around two months ago, the trail gets steeper and wet and has a few difficult sections due to the loose and wet rock. At one spot I had front and rear lockers and all 4 wheels spinning. I rocked it and was able to spin my way up this slippery section & continue up to above tree line. It was like driving on the moon & eventually you get to the pass. Not much room at all on the pass but I saw no other vehicles on the trail up to this point.
I drive down the other side of the pass towards Crested Butte. It got steep and loose and after a few miles I was getting into forest again and decided to turn around. Driving up this loose steep section was fun but I didn’t need any traction aid. After cresting Pearl pass again I headed down and enjoyed new views of the same trail I came up an hour earlier.
The views on this trail are amazing! When I got close to the trailhead I saw a few other rigs heading up but thankfully I had most of this trail to myself all day!
