Sounds like fun. Not sure I can take off either of the next two weekends due to kid commitments (next weekend is Halloween, right?).

Sunday is. The next sunday is daylight savings time, so I guess the return trip would be an hour shorter. I can do anything through the 21st of Nov.

Great! I'm thinking Friday would be Colorado to Moab via the Dolores Triangle Safari Route / BLM 107 which puts us out on Entrada Bluffs road between Top of the World and 128, head into Moab. Saturday trails in Moab, and Sunday leave via the Dolores Triangle again. This route in the Dolores Triangle is easy and incredibly scenic like the areas around Moab. It's paved to the Utah border 17 miles from Glade Park, then it's under 30 miles of easy dirt roads to Entrada Bluffs road. Maybe 2 hours. It's not the water crossing you see all the blown engine videos in from the kokopelli, it's north of that.

    A trip report: http://carlsjeeping.blogspot.com/201...-triangle.html

Aside from the crossing it's all 1-2 roads (the area is maintained for resource extraction and is also used for hunting) with the water crossing usually being hub deep or so this time of year, but the Dolores is at a record low and I don't think it's even going to be like Coney Flats. It might not be flowing at all, this is the part below gateway a few months ago:

This is the crossing in a typical October, it should not be even this high now. In the description they say they use this road to go from their house in Grand Junction to Moab in the ATV:

Old VW Van driving in the area, they end up at a large camping area with a bunch of VWs.

I'll bring maps to Johnny Park this Sunday. It's going to be awesome!!

Sweet. Are we camping? I just bought a new cold weather bag I need to try out.

I am on the fence about camping vs. hotel, it's getting pretty cold at night. IDK...

I bought a zero degree bag. I should be comfortable with nighttime temps down to ~25-30F. If hotel is the direction we decide to go that probably needs to be booked pretty soon.

I have a reservation at the La Quinta, but it can be cancelled, I just wanted to have the option. I'll probably go that way unless there's a great camping option that comes up, it's just easier.

I would be in but I'm running low on PTO for the year. I get more starting next year so more wheelin!

It sounds like you have chosen a great time of year and rough gameplan, have fun y'all!
