Great afternoon trail run, big thanks again to Matt for setting it up. Schmitty and I were the first to show up, followed by Matt and Jim. In the parking lot we met a father and son who had just purchased a JKU that was lifted on 35s but had never run a trail before. We invited them along and they had a great time, and did really well especially for a first trail. The whole trail was a blast, but a real highlight was seeing a moose and her calf at the pond. Matt saw them first and had us all park across the lake, where we waited until they moved on before crossing. Beautiful creatures. We met a camper who told me they were in their tent and heard some snorting outside, looked out and the moose and calf were in their campsite. They waited until they left, then he came to the pond for water and was nervous walking back to his camp because that's the way the moose and calf left. The trail was very wet, all the puddles were full and the streams were running strong, but the pond wasn't deep enough to create a bow wave. The rest of the trail was slow and rocky, and we took a small spur at the end that was fun. Great run, no problems, and it was really nice to see / meet everyone.
Unfortunately I left my good camera at home and just had an old Fuji point and shoot that lives in my Jeep, so not many photos from me this time. Here's the moose and calf:
