    Default Adopt-a-Trail Clean-up Run Report 7/24/21

Thought I would get this started. Jim and a I did a separate loop on Devils Canyon than the others with us. We found very little trash at all. What I found didn’t even cover the bottom of a 5 gal bucket. I know the others found lots more. The privacy code on the frs seemed to work well. No interruptions. Heres my aprs track.

We found very little trash on Barbour as well, mostly shells and glass. After running Barbour I ran the loop backwards to because it looked fun, and I wanted to see if it connected to Devi's Canyon, which it did not. Afterwords I was craving a little more challenge so did Elephant Hill and Empire Loop.

Took a bunch of pictures, my wife wasn't able to make it as I had hoped since she was wanting to see the flowers so I just took a ton of pics of them. About 80 pictures at these two links, half of them flowers but there are some pics of the group as well for those interested.

It was a very nice day to be out enjoying nature. The rain stayed put with only but a couple sprinkles. Temps were perfect and scant little wind.

While many capsites were in use, the few that were open were quite clean - most of the junk picked up was from the inside of the fire ring - burned cans.

Tom and I came across one group with a fire and when we spoke with them about it they were wonderful to chat with. They had checked the fire laws for the county but not the forest service. A couple guys grabbed water and doused the fire.

The mushrooms seemed to be growing well.

I processed badge updates, Wheeler year & Volunteer year, for those that I know were there. If your account shows out of date info, simply make a post in the run thread - I'll see the post (and outdated badges) and will get them updated.

Also saw very little trash on Barbour, very fun run -- first time for me. I kept my other radio on 6/14 and actually picked up some chatter from the DC group, pretty impressive range. COtrex track below, forgot to hit "resume recording" for a second, whoops. We ran CCW

This vehicle was a little suspicious, might want to report to the ranger

Wow, nice pic Gary. I had a front row seat to that as well and was afraid he was going to flop there.

Thanks all that came out and volunteered - your time and effort is much appreciated. Sorry it took me a bit to respond here - Jen and I headed onwards to the mountains for some backpacking on the CT the next few days and are just getting settled back in at home. Other than pics of mushrooms from Jen, I don't think we have any good pics from our side. As mentioned above, trash was pretty minimal, although the campsites were often being used and that limited some clean-up. I am going to work with Brant to get the fall clean up on the schedule with a bit more lead time - we may have a bit more specific things to work on with the USFS ATV crew. I think they are mostly looking to install some new carsonite signage in a few spots - especially some of the areas in DC to mark No Motor Vehicles etc.

What a great trail, had a blast with everyone. Met at the Ranger Station. A group having a kids Birthday party
(Jeep Girls) gave me y son a bag of goodies, super nice of them. The also had cupcakes and snacks 😋. A little early for cupcakes, but it's the thought. Wow, I can't believe that Trail was a (5) That's the Max I would do right now. Skinny trail in some spots. Had to negotiate with a tree.... It moved right away after it met my front bumper hehehe!! Was definitely a test for my truck, but she made just fine. Thanks to the gentleman who aired up our tires can't remember his name. But he had the yellow FJ we all thought was going to tip. Nice rig!!! Pleasure meeting some new guys, Christopher and his father. Can't remember Father's name either sorry. Had a dirt bike for sale. Great bunch of guys as usual. So glad we were able to help out and have fun. What a great trip! Thanks again to all who showed up and helped.
Have issues uploading photos, I'll keep trying
