Great trail and great day. This was my 2nd outing with the Jeep (Slaughterhouse was 1st) and 1st time the wife had been on a serious 4x4 trial. We had planned on meeting Aaron and his brother in-law but due to some happenings the evening before on top of Grizzly Lake , they couldn't make Iron Chest. Was great to meet the guys and look forward to running another trail with them soon. Aaron, I do plan on stealing your quick air down setup!
Iron Chest gets fun quick! and that boulder field is no joke. Anna (wife) was a trooper, even with the white knuckles and wide eyes. After about 20 minutes of bouncing around the boulder field she started to figure it out and understand that the Jeep would make it just fine. After that, she had a blast even on the exposed areas.
We had the trial to ourselves (mostly) which was great as there are scary few places to pass another vehicle. Once we got the top, we did run into another group of East coast jeepers having lunch. They probably had 12 rigs with them ranging from stock to buggy. After having lunch and enjoying the views, we made our way down. Im not very good at taking photos but here are few that we did manage to take. First one of us playing in the rock pile and the second of the east coast group headed down.
