    Default LEAF???

Anyone own a Leaf? I have a gap to fill, my daily driver just unexpectedly left my life and I have a Maverick on reserve but they are not going to arrive until Thanksgiving at the earliest, maybe next year due to the microchip shortage. I've been intrigued by an EV for a while, and since I have an opportunity now I'm looking at used LEAFs, reading up about them first, learning what to look for and how. I ordered a wifi code reader and downloaded Leafspy so far. Has anyone had any experience with one?

    TFL got one:

New to me, 2015, 57k, 12 bars on a very healthy battery. I love it so far, the acceleration is ridiculous and it's comfortable. I dealt with 7 dealerships last week, buttheads across the board. I got this for cash from a private seller, a super nice guy who was honest about everything and I liked him so much I'm using his business for set up on one of my guitars. It was a gov. vehicle for a consulate and the carfax shows an insane amount of service, all at Boulder Nissan- it was a lease and never went more than 6000, miles or 6 months without seeing the dealer, even though there is virtually no maintenance to do. It even went in once for wiper blades. The battery on this one is great, but down the road I'll need to replace it if I keep it. The battery is so easy to replace, except for the weight- 2 skid plates with maybe 2 dozen bolts / clips, then 10 bolts on the actual battery, all easy to reach, and three electrical connectors. The only thing is the battery weighs about 800 lbs, so you need a lift or something to deal with it. The dealership says it takes three hours, cost is currently $5500.00 for a new Nissan battery. The better deal is to find a good one in a wrecked Leaf. there are a lot of DIY videos on youtube, people use multiple jacks, pallets, carts, all sorts of things. I think by the time I need it there will be a lot of shops doing it, or enough videos to make me try it. That will be a future thread. For now it has a dent on the driver's fender that is rusting, I'm going to replace it, and the windows are getting tinted. I might try wrapping it myself too. Future thread...

Leaf transmission, basically a transfercase without low range. @5:10 you can see the internals, super simple. I bet a full rebuild would take the better part of a day.
