I'd appreciate some info on the elect fan parts list and your thoughts on the project (gotcha's, difficulty, outcome performance).

    Absolutely! I'll do a little tech-writeup.

Nothing special but I installed the MORE 1in body lift to begin the tummy tuck process. Had an "oh ****" moment aligning the tub with the frame so the bolts didn't crossthread. Looks nice, it's quieter inside, and there appears to be less NVH??? Either way, seems like a win.

Nice! Glad it's doing what you want.

Did any of the bolts give you grief at loosening? Mine came with body lift and I heard that the bolts behind the driver/pass seats can be notably difficult.

The middle one on the pass-side was a little "chirpy" when I broke it loose but the rest spun out with ease. There was a little surface corrosion present because the shiny new bolts got a little "grabby" when putting them in and I had to check a couple times to make sure I wasn't cross-threading anything. Sprayed a little PBBlaster in a couple of the threaded holes to help.

On another note I was apprehensive about installing a body lift because of the stigma. Did a lot of digging around on the internet and it seems like standard practice to install a 1in BL for clearancing things that hang low. Replacing the stock transfer case pan and gas tank cover for something a little more beefy and provide some tucking is the goal.

The tummy tuck is complete on the TJ. Did the first shakedown run after all the stuff I've done; Electric fan, UCF ultra high clearance transfer case skid, hand-throttle, gas tank skid, and new shocks. Haven't had the chance to get out so I took a chance with MSV this morning, the mosquitos decided to join me... many of them.

    Nothing special yet, it's a plain-Jane TJ.

I took this photo as well.

Damn, that's a lot of upgrades you got done! You may think it looks plain Jane, but you know the good upgrades it has under its skin. All good functional stuff.

My better judgment keeps me humble. I think the TJ is an expression of that for sure.

It appears the little burble in the idle and whatnot are signs of a misfire, the fuel pump was on it's way out and replacing it seems to have shined the light on the real problem.

Through diagnosis it appears cylinder 3 and 6 spark plugs are pretty sooty, all the others look normal. I replaced them all maybe 6 months ago.

Next was to check the injectors:
Brought motor to operating temperature. Measurements taken in ohms:

    Cylinder 1: 13.2
    Cylinder 2: 13.3
    Cylinder 3: 13.3
    Cylinder 4: 13.1
    Cylinder 5: 13.4
    Cylinder 6: 13.4

These are all within spec for operating resistance on injectors for the 4.0L. I did however swap injector 6 with injector 5 and the Code 27 moved with it, making it a misfire on 3,5,& 6.

I guess that means it's time to replace a couple injectors, however the hard start is still a problem and it's making me think the PCM might be on the way out.

Elaborate on hard start please - hard when hot / when cold / when not run for a period of time? Where I'm leading is what is your fuel rail pressure - is it too low / is your fuel rail pressure regulator / dump valve open and dumping fuel to return thus lowering rail/injector pressure?

It's a hard start when cold and hot. The new fuel pump I installed came with a new return valve.

Update: Pulled the Idle Air Controller... it was caked in soot.

Cleaned it up and blasted out the throttle body. Three shop towels completely blacked out.

Put everything back together and it fired right up. I'll let it sit overnight to see if that was really the issue.

I've trashed the 8.25 build plans and picking up an 8.8 (assuming it's clean) from a yard this week. It's got 4.10s, Trac-Loc, and disc brakes, big upgrade coming.

Why? I discovered that the MJ 8.25 (1991) axle I bought is actually weaker than the D35... It also will cost a lot more to swap in money and time.

the 8.8 will be stronger than anything you'll need and the aftermarket is much better.

    8.8 Build:

    Teardown and soaked in seafoam

Cut off the brackets and smoothed out the welds. Some minor pitting on the surface after scrubbing some of the surface rust off, I'm not going to worry about it.

Popped the cover and did a spin test to verify it is actually 4.10 gears, which it is... I spy a little LSD in there.

Brackets should be coming in a few days, then I can start making marks on the axle and setting pinion angle.

Got the brackets in today... unfortunately the fellas at ECGS can't read and didn't include the flange and other stuff I ordered... but I have enough to be dangerous...

Mocked up the brackets and started marking things with a paint pen. Had to draw a bead on the spring pads so they were a little more snug on the 8.8 tubes.

I read on Iron Rock Offroad's site that if you're using an SYE that it's a good idea to set the pinion angle to 16* so I'll get that all leveled out in my garage (like a 2* slope in my garage) and start tacking things on.

Judging by the fitment of one of the swaybar brackets I don't think I'll be able to weld the tube all the way around on that side... Maybe I can weld a bead and grind it down a bit to make it work.

If my math checks out all the bracket locations should be corrected for actual measured axle here:

Placed some plywood under the rear tires as a template, marked the center of the spring perches:

Pulled the template, marked center line on template and the 8.8 axle I'm working with, lined up the center line marks and verified with an angle:

Turns out my math worked and everything lined up perfectly. Waiting on the yoke to come in... still... then I can finish fitment, tacking brackets into place, and final burn in.

Well... I found THE tires... 33x9.5r15. Check these babies out!

You can get them at Walmart for a pretty good price too! I'm sure it'll go down by the time I go to buy them... hopefully.
