    Default Hello Everyone!

My name is Raul, and I am new to this 4 wheeling life that I see everyone enjoying. I recently purchased a 2018 Wrangler JL Rubicon 2 door and have enjoyed a couple simple trails. Looking forward to joining in on these planned trail runs. I’ve added a picture below of my rig, really still stock. I’ve been focusing on safety and recovery for the moment, plus I want to wheel it this way before getting into some real mods like a lift, wheels and tires. For now, I think it’s plenty capable…. Hopefully!

    Glad to be here,

    Raul

Welcome, and good plan. I think you might be pleasantly surprised by what that rig will do just like that, probably 90% of the trails in the state.

    Welcome to the group!
(and thanks for re-registering after my flub)

As others have commented - you have a capable vehicle as it sits. You'll run a lot of trails as-is. Steven (Steve-O) can give solid info on what it's like to run a STOCK wrangler (quite capable - though he can say where its limits are encountered). A Rubicon is well above stock.

You mention recovery gear and that would be high (and easy) on the first things list. A basic pull strap (20 or 30') and perhaps one metal shackle/d-ring and one soft shackle. If you do more solo trails, a winch gets higher on the list though isn't as needed when going with a group.

If you see a trail you'd like to travel, stir the waters in "Planning" to get a run scheduled!

Thanks for that… yes I’ve already installed a winch and have recovery gear ready along with an on board air solution. Good info on stirring up the waters in “Planning”, I appreciate that!

Thanks goSlo, would be fun to get out there with that beast of yours! Can’t wait for my tires to wear out so I can graduate to those Trail Grapplers you’re running!

Is your jeep a daily driver or weekend trail machine (how many miles per year do you think your tires will see)?

Yes, daily driver for the most part. Right now, I’m guessing 10-12k miles.

Yup, I've been driving a stock '93 Wrangler...sway bar disconnects were a game changer, but it didn't stop me from completely bottoming out in a mud puddle near little Moab lol! When it comes to rocks: when in doubt, run it over! (but seriously, put your tire right on the bigger rocks to get your diffs up and over other rocks). But you're not gonna have any issues in that thing given the stock lift and lockers (things I didn't have).

Welcome to the group, see ya out there
