Default Slaughterhouse Gulch Report 30 May 2021

So as I sat in the driveway this morning looking at patches of blue sky I thought maybe I could get by with just extra layers, and leave the top and doors off.
I was pretty convinced it wouldn't be bad. Yeah I'm so glad I didn't stick with that. The forecast called 100% chance of precip.
We got plenty of rain and even some sleet. We would have been miserably exposed, had I not changed my mind last minute.
So I took longer than I should have putting the Jeep back together this morning and that slowed me down. Sorry I showed up late, I gotta work on that.

I planned on getting some drone work done today too but my phone battery was the weak link, once it hit zero my controller was useless.
I didn't feel like fighting it. It's time to refresh this Galaxy S6 I suppose.
My one video I got at the beginning of the day also was a victim of my phone, so maybe next time I'll have more of that sorted.

I got a couple of decent pics. I wish I could've got more pics of the Bronco, there was a great three wheel moment at least I got to see but wanted a pic.
The cold and wet made it easy to want to stay in the vehicle. I also admit there was more trail here than I expected. I would not have enjoyed taking my stock 4runner up some of that stuff.
I thoroughly enjoyed taking the Jeep on the hardest things we could find though! Scott had a shock bracket issue I think. Nothing major from anyone so all in all that was good day on the trail!
I appreciate younz for coming out and hope your Memorial day is a great one!

I took a bunch of pics, had a great time too. Last time I did Slaughterhouse was in the dry a couple of years ago, I preferred it this time with it sprinkling lightly most of the run. So little you could leave your windows open the whole time but zero dust and just a touch slick at times to keep it interesting, but not too difficult.

imgur has a habit of posting my pictures in reverse order, so the trip actually starts at the bottom of the page.

Here is what is left of Scott's shock bracket. Tore it right off, luckily Hugh noticed it, then jumped under there with his tools and removed the shock completely so Scott could get going again without fear of ripping his brake line.

The highlight for me was finally getting to see my neighbor Nick wheeling his cherry 67 Bronco.

Scott, is that spare tire under your truck the same size as the rest of your tires?

I love that "my dad is the coolest ever" look on his face. I think this is Peter and his son Colin, please correct me if I am wrong here, had a few new names to try to recall today so I might be getting some mixed up.

I believe this is Trevor's Jeep flexing, I just noticed and really like his low profile hi-lift mount on the rear bumper. I managed to get pics of just about everyone flexing in this section (see the imgur link in my first post) except Nick's Bronco, I repeatedly screwed up the timing of my pics on his pass through only for some reason.

Had a great time with everyone as well, really I think the only bad weather part was airing up. It was raining so hard on the drive all the way home I don't think I even need to wash my truck.

Big thanks to Hugh for jumping to action to quickly remove my left rear shock and tie up my brake line. All things considered, not a big deal at all, going to be a cheap fix and I really didn't feel any difference on the trail

Also the Bronco was amazing, pretty much nothing left to do to that beast, it's decked all the way out. I think we turned some heads on the trail today between the G wagon and the Bronco, pretty cool feeling having all the diversity in the group.

Embarrassingly no and my tire size I don't think would fit unless some things were moved around quite a bit. When I get new wheels I plan to get a 5th like a responsible 4wheeler and would have it in my bed. I haven't tried but I do think the spare would help me limp out of trouble if needed.

You want to have at least a tire plug kit, I have one similar to https://www.smittybilt.com/product/index/255.htm that I think I paid $30 for. If you have to limp out of someplace I think you would have an easier time driving 15mph on a tire with 30 plugs sticking out of the sidewall than on a tire the wrong size.

That was a lot of fun today. It was great to meet everyone. I think we lucked out with the weather right up until the end, and I suspect it would have been crowded if the forecast looked more favorable.

Shane got his drivers-front tire way up in the air at one point. Unfortunately I did not pull out my phone for a picture. I also spotted Peter getting his back-passenger tire up later on which really whipped those truck-nuts through the air.

My hilift mount is out of they way but I run the risk of coming off of a ledge onto the jack handle. So far so good. I did raise it up an inch by flipping the rear bumper upside-down. It probably wouldn't clear the spare without the body lift.

Omgoodness, we had such a great time (as always). Yes Shane, Collin was smiling from ear to ear! (Me too hehe) We loved it! Great pic BTW! The day Started out quite nice! But, turned a little wet buy the end. The trail was a fantastic, not dusty at all. Thanks to the drizzle while driving! Thanks again for the air fill up, can't remember your name. But I'll work on that! Great bunch of people, super happy to be a part of it all. Here's a few pics
