    Default A little fence project

Progress on the 58 has been slow as a fence project has taken some priority for wife and neighbors....Tore out 70' of an old 6' picket fence that had been falling down for a few years and replaced with a 4' fence. We spent most of the last week tearing out the old fence, and mostly tearing out a lot of old buried concrete at the bottom of the posts. We also found some even older slightly buried posts in old concrete from an even earlier fence!

This is always a big hump to get over - getting all the fence posts in concrete...Nine 27" deep post holes dug by hand...maybe I am getting old or fat and lazy but felt that in the arms and shoulders for a day or two! Fortunately it's not ridiculously rocky around here, but the clay that starts about 8" down is a bit if a PITA. Fortunately with the wet spring we've had, it was a bit softer than the typical hard-pan that it normally is.

rails cut and installed...then still had to cut the top of the posts to proper height and finally install the pickets.

Finally, 3.5" wide pickets installed with 1.5" spacing...

now back to the regularly scheduled willys project...

Looks good - nice green grass too.

Maybe more oar time in the raft, topped off with aluminum can weight lifting could help?
