On June 16th, Wed we'll be going to South Fork via some backroads in Park Creek. On the 17th, thursday, we're heading to Wheeler Geologic Area. Anyone is welcome to meet up, times are flexible. Friday looks like Bonanza on the way back north.

Dog of course, and wife too which means we're staying in a hotel instead of camping.

I have been wanting to do Wheeler for some time. Alas the dates won’t work for me. The wife and I will just have returned from a vacation in UT and WY. 9 mile canyon and flaming gorge.

The Otto Mears toll road is a great easy 4wd trail to get to Bonanza.
The stills at the beginning of this video are just East of Bonanza. Whale Hill trail will take one over the mountains East and over to hwy 285.

Otto Mears is all in the trees and kinda rocky with some shelf sections, I don't want to burn my wife's tolerance for 4x4 out that quickly into the trip. if anything we'll take 890 Alder Creek (not the same one as the one in South Fork) but this time of year I'm not sure if it will be clear or not. The plan is an in / out from the south side along LL56. I actually saw your Whale Hill video earlier today (nice) and plan to hit that area up, it looks awesome.

Paul baring any major issues with my rig between now and then I'm in. (As long as you don't mind me tagging along?) Anyway I have a trip planned for the first weekend of June we are camping one night and hanging out in Ouray/Telluride the following two nights. Will give me plenty of miles on the Jeep to know for sure about going with you guys June 16/17th. I'm pretty flexible on what you decide to do. I'm going to bring Sammie he is my Malty-Poo who has never gone camping, but loves hiking , just hates car rides.

You're always welcome! All or part of it works, we can meet up just for Wheeler on Thursday if that's better for you, or whatever, it's all good. Anyone else too. My dog loves everyone, he'll get along great with Sammie. I'd expect we'll get to the Bonanza area around noonish on Wed, much earlier start for Wheeler on Thursday. We can figure it out more specifically when the time comes.

I would love to go for the intire trip. Maybe we can meet somewhere of your choosing. If you plan on doing hotels I'll find somewhere to camp no biggie. I've gotten quite accustom to dispersed camping. Thanks! I'm on vacation that week so it works great for me.

We are staying in a hotel, not my first choice but it's a compromise with my wife for a trip in July. I'm going to post up Wheeler as a run for Thursday, the rest of it revolves around that. Hope you can make it!

Hey Paul. Just an fyi. The link to the meetup on the calendar does not work. It has elipses in it and copying it then has no destination in google maps.
