    Default The All-Electric F-150 Lightning

IDK how they expect to sell any cybertrucks with vehicles like this coming out. Can't wait to see what Toyota does with the E-Tacoma...

This is really exciting. Especially since I just test-drove a '21 150 on Tuesday

Range is my biggest concern in an all electric pickup; especially while towing. Beyond that I wish manufacturers would get on board and do a "one size fits all" charging system. If they don't, it's just going to significantly slow down the market migration to electric becoming a viable choice, let alone being a preferred one.

Read a headline this morning that you could power your house for 3 days via this truck.
Remains to be seen, but yea this new tech is pretty sweet.

edit: Guess I could've watched all the video first!, They say the same thing.

Even the 2021 gas F150 with a generator built in is a nice touch.

edit2: I wonder what the MSRP is going to be.

LOL I don't disagree at all. It's just in this instance the infrastructure costs are inherently so high that you would think it would be in everyone's interest to develop a standard. Spread the cost over multiple manufacturers and it would get built quicker and cheaper, even if it stifles innovation to some degree.

Regardless it's not stopping me from doing it. The range of a pickup (in all use cases) is my primary deterrent. I have zero reservations about going all electric for a sedan/non-utility vehicle though as it's range is significantly more predictable therefore one can more easily plan around the limitations.

According to Car & Driver base un-optioned variant will likely start around 42k with a fully loaded platinum pushing 90k. So unless I'm mistaken, not terribly more expensive than an ICE variant.

seriously the cybertruck looks like a joke to me, i can't imagine a typical truck buyer picking that over anything

I've been looking at vans and trucks for a few months without having my skirt blown up by anything but this looks like a great truck all around. I am hesitant to buy a new gas vehicle, I tend to keep my vehicles for a long time and I don't think there will be any resale value; I'm also hesitant to buy the first round of new tech. It's possible that I already own all the internal combustion engines I ever will.
