Default FYI: Pennsylvania Gulch is blocked by a Jeep

Just a heads up in case anyone was thinking of hitting Pennsylvania Gulch. I took the scenic route home from Boulder, went up flagstaff, then, can't remember, maybe it's CR 68, the one that pops out on Magnolia, I take that over to Switzerland and up Pennsylvania when I want a fun route home but this time found a Jeep stopped right at the trickiest section. The only way around is an illegal path someone made around the section.

The Jeep bent a rim. Guess they didn't have a hammer and ether with them?

Or a lug wrench to put that spare tire on?

And maybe they weren't up for pulling that winch line in 10' to unblock the trail?

But other than the Jeep in the way, Pennsylvania is in good shape. A little bit of snow up top, nothing too serious though.

Did they just leave the winch attached too!?

Gave me a good laugh this morning, thanks.

Temp tags, out alone, probably doesn't know how to change the spare. I'm not sure I get the reason for the winch being hooked up. Life lesson. I hope they get back to it before it gets stripped, that would be too much of a lesson.

I'm guessing they left it hooked up to keep it from sliding back down the hill but who knows really.

WTF?! I hope there is a good explanation/story behind that. Otherwise that person is negligent.

I'll also add to Shane's list that they could have also pulled off the trail so people could get by. So many mistakes!! So many questions.

You should have put a note on it to join FR4x4 so they can learn what to do and what not to do.

Bent rim on Penn Gulch = they were hauling a$$, in my opinion. Damn JL drivers

No tree saver, apparently they don't know they have a jack in the back, and they left the trail blocked. I'm sensing a noob that needs a few runs with knowledgeable people and hopefully they learned to not go out alone with no recovery equipment (besides an unused winch).

Looking at the situation I think they were struggling with the hardest part of the trail, it has an angled slick tree root on the right hand side and I was guessing they took a couple of tries at it and failed, then finally decided to charge it.

Based on his usage of the rest of his equipment I kinda doubt he was able to engage the lockers. Or find low range.

yeah, this. you don't bend a rim that bad on that trail knowing anything about 4-wheeling, haha.
