Hanksville is very small, let’s plan to meet at Stans burger chevron @ 6pm. I’ll take your gas can then too!!

    I'll be there.

I'm debating leaving a day early for the JB/OC route with a dip to Moki Dugway. Undecided. How busy my Monday is (if work spills to Tuesday) likely the killer.

    Moki Dugway is cool.

It's going to be a bit toasty out there until Saturday. Looks like a cool front moves in Friday with some wind, then better temperatures Sat/Sun. I hope it's a bit cooler than forecast Wed - Fri. Forecast says it will still be ~72-74 at 10 to 11pm those days. Bring lightweight sleeping bags.

I'm shifting my "extra day" to the end of the trip. I hoped to drive out today, staying along UT-128 after riding JB/OC with tomorrow morning Moki Dugway. As-is, I'll drive out tomorrow for the 6p Hanksville meet. At the end of the trip, if the desire is still there, I'll drop south for Moki Dugway then up towards Moab for some campground. Following day - OC/JB to Gateway then home.

If either of you wish to join that extra day - most welcome.

That's a strong possibility for me. I'd like to see that southern route sometime, and there are few better times than when I'm already out that way.

I think that's a better idea anyway Jim! After you go down Moki dugway do the 17 mile Valley of the Gods road. Super easy but beautiful, as the name implies! I camped there 2 weeks ago.

I'lll be heading straight home when we hit pavement.... the wife has been giving me **** all week! But I'm going to enjoy the next 6 days to the fullest with you guys!

Hmmm - Valley of the Gods road.

Well, I will be "in the neighborhood"... possible

EDIT: Reviewing the maps - it's a no-brainer to take the Valley of the Gods road! It starts less than a mile at the south / lower end of the Moki Dugway and drops out in the direction of Moab...

I was entertaining, if you wished to join as well, dropping out via Dollhouse road. My mind is in the stick as a group until at least pavement. Exiting as planned is not out of the way (and might actually be the same time) as exiting via Dollhouse.

We could do that also, exiting south on the Flint trail to Hwy 95 just north of Hite. We would skip the Orange cliff switchbacks by doing this, which would be fine by me (just a little technical but is very exposed and tight in spots). We can also talk during the trip if we feel like changing something up...... I definitely want to make it to the Dollhouse our 3rd night. 4th night is just a few miles east at Standing rock and 5th is a good trek north to Maze Overlook, both of which I'd be fine changing up if we decide to as a group.

If we go from Maze overlook south to the Hite crossing without stopping in Hanksville I expect to run out of gas. We'll definitely have to discuss before we go 80 miles the other direction.

I'm not planning on going south unless we skip Maze overlook and camp somewhere south on Sunday night. Otherwise I won't get back on home on Monday night and I'd really like to make it home that night. We can talk this out when we are all together and decide together, we will not run out of gas!!!! I'm bringing 11-12 gallons extra with me, most likely won't even need it but I'd rather be safe than sorry..... I'd like to stick to our original plan but again, I'm happy to discuss

Bottom line - trip as planned is on my mind. Any change would be agreed upon while we're on the trip. I'm quite happy running the planned route.

As to gas, IF (a big if), we/I exited south via Dollhouse... There's "maybe" gas at the Sinclair at the south side of the Hite Bridge...
    Google Map
Hours are listed as 8a to 4p though credit card gas might be 24 hour.

EDIT: I just called the number. The automated messages stated they do have 24-hour pay-at-the-pump.

    Closed Tuesdays.

I spy something else interesting near that gas station:

(restroom and showers at the marina).

    A shower might be nice.

As I recall, showers are available at the Up The Creek campground in Moab.

Trip ended this morning. Just walked in the door of my house. I'm home safe and expect Matt will be soon if not already. Jim went south to see Moki Dugway and will either be home very late or stay overnight somewhere and return tomorrow.
