What about me makes you think I like doing things the easy way?

Maybe give an LJ a look, it's a phenomenal trail rig and is probably the only 4x4 available that will (likely) appreciate in value. And you get to drive a Unicorn.

So sorry to hear about this Shane! When your wife texted me I knew it was serious..... but unfortunately I’m out in sunny California for another month so I can’t help you out. Sorry! Hoping for the best!

I’ve seen a bunch of those new Broncos on the road out here, they are SMALL and look like a Kia SUV to be honest!

Shane, I have a 2004 Wrangler Rubicon that I could sell you for a good price ..... needs a little tlc but runs great, front and rear lockers work great, has a winch but I’m going to take the hard top and put it on my black Jeep so it’ll need a new top (hard or soft). Here’s a picture.....

The Bronco Sport is out now I think, but is not the real deal off road Bronco.

The cool thing I see is that it'll be really great off road from the factory. As good or better than a Wrangler Rubicon if I remember correctly, I haven't looked into them in a while. Check out initial reviews and the specs. You won't even need to modify it if you don't want to.

Yes, the "sport" is out. It's more like a boxy Subaru than a real off-roader. Not particularly good off road per the various media reports and this detailed, critical piece that David Tracy recently published - https://jalopnik.com/multiple-ford-b...s-t-1846450499

The proper Broncos with Sasquatch package (35" tires and lift) should be pretty capable. I thought orders were so backlogged that you can't get a 2021 even if you place an order now. Of course money talks and there is always a way to get one once they are delivered if you are determined and have enough cash. It is easy for me to spend Shane's money for him, but I'm not sure paying over market for a $50k Sasquatch that he'll still have to wait 3 months to get is quite where he is headed.

Yeah, the Bronco Sport is like a Jeep Renegade. It's a car styled for people who like something different than the average blob on the road. It may be more capable than a car off road but nowhere near a real off road truck/SUV

Isn't the Bronco Sport just a reskinned escape? It's not worthy.

The new Bronco looks to be pretty awesome.

I was actually thinking about your Jeep Matt. Going to go test drive a bunch of things over the weekend. The new Bronco is super interesting to me, I bet we'll see solid axle conversions on them in the future kicking butt on the trails. I can't put money down on a vehicle sight unseen though as I don't buy based on specs, I want a vehicle that really calls to me, that when I am sitting on the couch makes me want to get up off of my butt and go hit the trails. No way to know that without driving one. That's how I ended up with Rovers, which on paper aren't the most practical choice.

I'm really glad you were able to get out and sad to see the Rover dead Shane. I might have been able to help but I never saw this post and weekdays are impossible for me.

P.S. I vote 100x for the new bad ass bronco that would be such a sweet rig for you and this is coming from the chevy guy

4 runners are really great too but too tight of a squeeze for me personally the windshield feels close compared to other SUVs

Look at the big tires and short wheelbase on this Bronco. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-ford-bronco-43

I'm guessing one prereq is - can it function as sleeping accommodations - full flat bed and not scrunched.

Though that Bronco catches my eye!

That looks so fun. Landing looked pretty soft too, are they running the Raptor shocks on some of those?

2023 a raptor version of the bronco is said to be coming. Dunno about shocks on current versions
