Pawnee Grasslands has no fire restrictions presently. That was one of the best features of camping there!

I dunno. Every time we are forecast to have an epic snow storm, it peters out before it happens. Lots of crying wolf. Few storms live up to the panic they try to incite.

Still, I'm ready for it if it hits.

It will be interesting to see what actually happens.

These SE low upslope spring storms can be ferocious and dump a lot of heavy wet snow. Today I made sure we had everything ready to dig out and possibly lose electric power, just in case. Fortunately the trees aren’t in leaf yet.

We desperately need the moisture. Yesterday we received a postcard from our water district warning that there will likely be water restrictions this season and possibly for several years.

Unfortunately it normally warms up quickly and the snow runs off instead on soaking in this time of year. These storms are usually front range events and don’t impact the high country as much, which is where most of our water comes from. Everyone down river from us tends to get the benefit.

That's a fairly jaded opinion. Moisture, whether we recieve it's full benefit or not, is much needed here in Colorado and beyond. The mountains have been getting the much needed moisture since yesterdayd. The big storm front moving in isn't supposed to hammer west of the continental divide, but places just to the east like Estes could get up to 91". Yup, 91". So while a lot will just become run off, our poor dry soil will soak up as much as it is able, which is desperately needed.

Friends in Illinois are sending forecast items now... Gotta love those Albuquerque Low's for some grand up-slope moisture!!!

Was on the phone with a client - they were "scheduled" to go grocery shopping this morning. They said the lines were CRAZY.

Well those numbers will certainly fix the front range water situation. I cannot imagine shoveling 40 inches of snow.

I'm much more concerned about my roof than my yard and driveway if we get that much wet snow.

I have shoveled roofs before in MN and Gunnison. Too old to climb up there with that amount of snow now.

I had to shovel the roof in Alaska when I was a kid. Wasn’t all bad, when I was done I got to see how far I could jump off of my roof into the snow. But if anyone else is up for playing in the snow Saturday, I’m game. I’ll be heading out either way.

We used to jump off the roofs in crested butte when I was a teen.
