    Default Cheap Amazon LED Lights

I bought these as an prime deal for $16.00 and was expecting to return them, or maybe just mount them to the roof rack on the Xterra for camping, but the reviews are great and include an 06 TJ that replaced the stock foglamps with them and they looked bright in the pics, so I figured it would be at worst a cheap mistake. I replaced my OEM Hellas with these and they are excellent, especially in comparison to the OEM ones. Simple replacement, they even bolt into the same holes on the bumper. If you're looking for cheap replacements, or backup lights or whatever, these are a lot better than I expected them to be. They look pretty good too.

They seem to be getting better and better. I bought some of the flush mount ones for backup lights on my truck, even though a few of the LEDs have gone out they are still pretty bright.

I want a pair of KCs for my JKUR but maybe I'll just get these.

I had a pair of these on my TJ for 3 years before selling the TJ. they were still bright as the day I bought them when I sold it. I bought another pair last year for my 4Runner. just as nice as the first pair.

these CANNOT be beat for the price.

Best I could see there's just two wires to connect. Are the leds wired separately so you can switch between spot and flood?

nope, on or off are your choices. The wires are encased in a single rubber sleeve and have short ends extruding to work with, about 1.25" long with .5" prestripped. Good idea to get it right the first time.

Did you use relays to power them or are they straight through a switch?

The TJs / LJs came with fog lights on the bumper made for Jeep by Hella. They use a single bolt through the bumper for mounting, not grounding, and then two wires connect it to a switch on the end of the turn signal lever that powers them. The LED s come with a red and black wire, the OEM wires are blue and black. I cut and stripped the OEM wires, connected blue to red, black to black, and mounted it in the same hole on the bumper as the OEM lights. Apparently these lights can use a wide range of power levels and are not particular. So far so good, but all I've done is turn them on and look at them.

It looks like the factory fog lamps are on a relay. See 8L-15 here https://wranglertjforum.com/attachme...ual-pdf.14047/

I'd guess everything on the steering column is on a relay, but I'm really not sure if these need that or not. I'd probably use one in a Jeep just to keep the voltage out of the passenger compartment, but on an ATV or something IDK. I'm probably the wrong person to answer this any further, I'm just a home garage hack. The Amazon listing says this, and has a lot of answered questions about it:

    • Universal: As the working voltage of this light bar is from DC 9 to 30-volt, it can be widely used to most of vehicle styles(Off Road, SUV, ATV, UTV, Trucks, Marine, Boat etc)

Relays had to be installed in the older style lights because of the amp draw they created. Most switches are rated for 25 amps but the halogens draw more than that and the switch would heat up and burn out switch. With LED lights they draw considerably less amps and should theoretically be able to be run without relays but the relays still seem to be highly pushed for some reason. I think it is just a money grab and will likely try and run some straight through switch, I still have 2-4 more to install. I will update on here after I do and test them out. I will take temp readings of switch and see.

25A would be a ton of current for an LED light. These pods seem to be 60W per pod, so 5A each.

Just depends on the size of the light, 50" light bars relays are needed. Switch is maxed out at 300 watt at 12v. If run at 100% for extended time the switch will fail. Typically you want to stay under 80% of max load for switch to prevent excess heat. This would be 20 amps. Not all switches are the same either. I just checked switches for my switch panel and they are rated for 20 amps so only 16 amps for peace of mind. This will run 192 watts at 12v. Typically a truck is closer to 14 volts when running which gives a boost to 224 watts.

I connected some directly to my reverse circuit on my tow rig, no issues at all, granted I am not in reverse for long periods of time.

I have 10 of those around the roof rack on my rover. 4 forward, 2 on each side, and 2 rear. I have a 3 switch panel with those labeled cheap rocker switches from amazon. They work great. Over a year later all 10 still work just fine and are really bright. I also enjoy my round led headlights. Had to aim them quite a bit lower than OEM to not blind the world.

I've always wanted to get some small lights to add to my reverse lights. That and a backup camera that tires into one of the reverse light wires.
