Default New Member to the Denver Area

Hi all, just moved to the Denver area from Mid-Michigan about 2 months ago. I have a lightly modded '02 Jeep TJ that's a big work in progress. The rig has seen countless miles of logging trails, downed trees, sand, snow, and mud in Michigan but have little experience with the slightly rockier trails out here. So far have been on a few solo runs around Yankee Hill, Switzerland Trail and the smaller side trails but looking forward to summer wheeling after the snow melts. I take pride in and enjoy doing all my work/ mods/ repairs myself so always ready for a day of wrenching or wheeling.

Thanks! It's a huge work in progress that's mainly limited by the bank account like most haha. Focusing mainly on trying to finish performance/protection upgrades before dipping into appearance too much.

In the muddy photo it looks like you might not have any side rocker protection. I end up using my rock sliders pretty often on the more challenging trails around here. They have saved me from certain body damage several times.

Welcome to the group! Another native Michigander here, I grew up in the metro Detroit area. I started wheeling last year so I never had the pleasure of wheeling in Michigan -- would love to hear about where you went. Hope to meet you out on the trails!

You are correct, only stock skid plates/no sliders for the time being. Next upgrades are sliders, oil pan skid, and super 35 kit with an ARB locker to hopefully even out the playing field with the more challenging trails. Also considering building my own tummy tuck skid down the road as well if anyone has any insight/tips.

Most of my michigan off-road experience has been around the Grayling area. So many old logging and military roads you can go for days with only crossing paved roads to get to the other side. Also quite a shock when wheeling near Grayling AFB to come over a hill or around a turn and come face to face with a tank out on a training exercise.

Welcome! Great Jeep! You might want to keep an eye on CL and FB for a bolt in rear axle as an option to the Super35 kit. A lot of Ford 8.8s get adapted to TJs and some OEM Dana 44s come up too.

I've been keeping an eye out for a used D44 but tbh I don't see them being worth as much as they're going for now-a-days. Not a huge fan of the 8.8 under the TJ (massive pumpkin, compound angles on the drive shaft). No plans in the very near future to go over 35's so the super 35 kits with an arb locker are pretty appealing to me.
