That most likely is the best thing that could have happened. We don't want everyone thinking they can litter up nature with their **** art. LOL

I'll see if the kind folks at Arecibo can limp out one last message, GPS coords for Tom's back yard, before the facility is shuttered.

The story comments that authorities state there was no authority to remove it as it was private property. I put it as "abandoned property" and is a free-for-all if located on public lands (my opinion).

Video shows what looks like screw heads at the edges. The story states it was hollow and was made of aluminum. That should be easy to disassemble, pack it flat, and light weight to move. Whoever has it can turn the aluminum in for a bit of coin (about the gas cost out and back from Moab perhaps).

Bummer. At least Tom's back yard is safe!

A buddy has been interested in the cable breaks. I did some searching and found some pictures (second link in this set):

I think it was riveted together, still easy to disassemble. I think there is a time period involved before an item is considered abandoned, this would likely fall under that time period though.

"Vandals Remove Object from Pine Mountain"

Where's the "Vandals Place Object on Pine Mountain" story?

Good to here there's no-charge cleanup available out there.
