    Default New Years day?

My personal tradition has been to go on a trail run with Front Range 4x4 for New Years day. One of my favorite trails has become Schubarth Loop. I know it's quite a long drive for our northern members (maybe have a seperate run up north?) I ran this trail with 18 inches of snow on it last year with a OverLand Bound group and only had to pull rope once (because open open) everyone who had locker had no issue with that spot. Just putting it out there.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families. Take care, David

No I didn't know this trail was part of this. Crazy people (groups) are being this selfish. Trying to spoil things for us!

Ok since there is enough interest in doing this I'll start in the planning process and list details and get it on the Calinder.

Just bought 4 chains for my tires but based on the fact that I have no lift, smaller tires (235/75r15), and no lockers I think I'll have to be a game-time decision based on the weather/snow levels. There's no way I'm getting through 18 inches of snow

So just so that I have an idea of what to expect for New Years day (trail conditions) and so I can take my vehicle out for a little shakedown after doing the axles swap I'll be doing a shakedown run with a couple friends I know a few days before the New Years day run, we will be a little deeper into the mountain range but it should give me some perspective on the conditions we will be facing for the day. I'm kind of hoping that it either stays clear or we get a foot or more of snow the night before. We had a fresh snow (a foot on top of a track packed foot) last time I ran that trail and it was like we were at Elitches. You could just gun it and basically stay in the track up and down the roller coaster type terrain (you know me and my skinny pedal). About the best snow wheeling experience I have ever had.

The trail would be equally fun dry. But if it's icy it could be pretty scetchy. Just want to be able to advise accordingly. Cheers David.

I am interested in the expected conditions too. I do not have chains. I do have 35 inch mud and snow tires. I want to get a sense if I will have a chance of making it.

You'll have no problem. That's the great thing about going with a group, you can just send it and if you don't make it someone will be there to give you a pull out As happened to me today with a huge Ram truck on 37's nearby to rescue me after a went a bit far out into left field. I won't be chaining up and am on 33's with half the ground clearance you have so you won't have to worry about being the one getting stuck first worst case.

So we had a very good (Great) day playing on and around Little Moab, I think we will have a great day out on the first. The trail we are doing is much easier then the Rainbow fails area.
It would be nice to get some fresh snow but I'm not concerned and I am still open diffs. and my Jeep feels so solid. 4.10s wow what a difference. Can't wait to start working on my axles with the ARB lockers.

Good to know, feeling good about tomorrow in that case. I'll have the chains as well. Also want to test out my new GMRS/FRS radio, I'll be on channel 12

I'll be bringing mine, but I don't think I have channel 12. Have to double check, but mine skips half of the channels because I have an external antenna. Works a treat though. I'll meet you guys at the trailhead since I'm coming from up North.
