Default Medano Pass Friday Nov 13

Planning on running Medano Pass starting from the Westcliffe side on Friday, Nov. 13. It's currently closed due to fallen trees and snowdrifts but should be reopened soon. Hope to be at the trailhead by 10am, but it's flexible.

For sure doing this if anyone wants to tag along. Medano closes for the season on Nov. 24.

Icy, deep ruts and super windy, had to turn around about 3 miles in. It'll be there next year.

And you had instant, un-allocated time on your hands - what'd you do with it?

Headed up to fourmile south, it was a lot clearer. Stopped at the Sugar and Spice Bakery on the way, an old historic ranch I forgot the name of, and a few of the camping areas off 50, found a road i want to see next year there too. Got Mo Burrito in Salida, really good. Fourmile was excellent, we set up our camp stuff and hung out until it got too cold after sundown. It was just good to be out and away, and these things often don't work out as planned, no big deal. Saturday we left early, about 6:30, and took 24 to 67 to 285 with a couple of detours, saw a Bald Eagle on a fence post right next to the road on Westcreek Road, missed all the weather except the wind. It was good.

From Aspen Ridge, the snow was not deep and not frozen like Medano Pass. I'm thinking about going back there this weekend or maybe on Friday, it should be pretty dried up by then and the gates close Dec. 1.
