    Default Mountain Lion Encounter

"I found what I thought were bobcats on the trail during a run. Turns out they were cougar cubs and their mother was not happy to see me. She follows me for over six minutes acting very aggressive while I walk backwards up the trail. Very scary cougar encounter." "Holy Shitface".

If he had a gun I wonder if just a warning shot would have stopped her from pursuing him. This is a good video to remind folks not to take the days they've been "safe" outdoors for granted.

I always carry a bear spray, but I'm not sure i'd get the chance to use it against a mountain lion, they are so fast. The fact that he saw her coming means she didn't really want to fight, just chase. She had him anytime she wanted.

The dude should have thrown rocks way, way, way earlier to stop the encounter much earlier. This guy did all the wrong things and is lucky he wasn’t attacked.

I'd want to throw something - way earlier - but I would not want to bend down and make myself small. The cat didn't give much opportunity (where it was not looking at the guy).

I think my wallet would be getting tossed. Then perhaps noisy keys.

What was that thing in his hand the entire time that he could have thrown at it....oh, yeah, the damn phone....

On a hike last Wednesday and the only other tracks in the leftover snow besides ours were from several sizes of cats. Kept a vigilant eye out and a conversation going for some noise, all was good. Some form of protection from four or two legged predators is needed. Even a good hiking staff can do amazing things when required.
