Saturday Oct 17 - Rainbow Falls / Little Moab

Trying to squeeze in some fun before the snow is an issue. Is anyone interested in some trails this Saturday? Rainbow Falls / Illinois Gulch / Little Moab could be fun.

Obviously I'm not awake yet and posted today's date with Saturday's day name. I mean Saturday Oct 17.

I am interested...don't know if the Lil Moab area trails are all that interesting, but possible. Have you already run Red Elephant this year? Depending on weather, I might be interested to run up Chihuahua lake trail, and then do the hike the last bit all the way to the lake. There are some other mines in the area to drive to like Cinnamon Gulch.

I ran Red Elephant a few months ago (https://www.frontrange4x4.com/forums...e-Lake-July-26). There's nothing special about Lil Moab other than I haven't run it this year.

I am not familiar with Chihuahua Lake Trail or Cinnamon Gulch.

they are up Peru Creek from near Montezuma/Keystone. The trails are quite short, so its nice to combine a few together. I ran Chihuahua quite a few years ago with some members here, and then we ran up the Waldorf Mine on the other side of the valley. I've haven't done Cinnamon, but looks like a bit more mining remnants and possibly more interesting. Santa Fe peak is also in the area - I use the road for winter ski touring access, but have never driven up it in the summer.

Trent - what are thinking for Sat...Sat is the better day for me to wheel as well...What do think of Jenny Creek combined with Rollins Pass east?

Sounds like fun. Never run either of those. I've only been up the west side of rollins pass.

If you have suggestions for where to meet and the routes, feel free to schedule the run. I have to look these up to figure out details.

Edit: These trails appear to start very near Eldora. I'm not certain how to get to the trailhead yet. Suggestions for a good meeting place?

Ill probably join if you guys decide to go.... Jenny Lake is an ok trail but the views at the end are pretty sweet, near Rollins pass. Technically they require OHV sticker for Jenny Creek trail also

I pulled the GPX for these trails -- it looks like they sort of overlap and cover the same ground. Is your plan to run Jenny Creek first and return via Rollins Pass East? Am I misunderstanding how these trails work?

Yes - sort of a loop, but not quite....start going up on Rollins Pass east, then move over to Jenny Creek and go up Jenny creek. It sort of parallels Rollins Pass Rd. Jenny Creek terminates back into Rollins Pass, and we can head up the to the end of Rollins Pass east. Can return all the way back via Rollins Pass to the start. At least that is how I see it going (never done either trail).

Don't know if you have a log-in with Trails Offroad (I only have the free account), but you can see Rollins Pass here (we start at the south end near Tolland), and if you click on the grey circle part way up Rollins Pass, it shows Jenny Creek....
